I have a question regarding Optima's 3 year replacement deal.

I purchased it new from a guy here but I guess during shipment the battery got damaged. I thought that it just cracked the side a bit on the stance, but today after 1 month of driving with it, I decided to take it out to clean the engine bay and etc.

I notice that the piece of wood that was placed under the battery was kinda wet. I took a closer look and it was acid from the battery. I flipped the battery on its side and I saw this crack on the base of the battery. The leak probably came from the crack.

So given my situation, how would I use the 3 year replacement from Optima? Am I SOL? Can I bring it to Autozone and ask for a replacement without a receipt?

I got one for my stepdaughters car about a month ago. Autozone seems to be pretty good; I asked the guy all about replacing it (in AZ, batteries go pretty fast due to the heat). He told me, yes, you can replace a defective Optima without having a receipt, as long as you got properly entered in the database when you bought the battery. Definitely get it replaced.

What if I do not have any record in the database? There is no way to find any kind of info on the battery itself to find out when the battery was made or something?

There might be a date code on the battery itself. I think you'll just have to hope the guys at the Autozone are nice enough to go ahead and replace it then. Still worth asking. So you don't remember if you gave them all the info when you got the battery, and if they entered it?

Purchased it from a groupbuy here on ECelica.

If ecelica got them from Autozone, maybe someone at ecelica could contact Autozone for you. I dunno, maybe its worth a try.

i think you better take it up with groupbuy then if it was damaged in shipping. i doubt the shipper will take responsibility. maybe if it was shipping insured.

Probably depend on who did the actual shipping. If it was ecelica, then forget it. But if it came straight from Autozone, then maybe they would replace it.
