Celica Forums General Discussion General 2nd gear

i got this 87 celica and sometimes when i shift into 2nd gear i get a wierd grindin noise i dont kno why it happens. the kid who sold me the car told me 2nd gear on the celicas takes some gettin used to i dont kno he pulled a fast one on me and the trans is messed up, if the clutch is goin, or if its just the way im shifting. but i try to shift at the same time everytime i come from a dead stop but it seems like the shift points change and i have to shift at a different rpm can anyone tell me what the problem is... Thanks

have you asked if he kept a routine check-up/service on the car? its prolly the clutch.

no i didnt ask him about that but im pretty sure he did the cars gotta lot of mileage on it.but then again the engine was rebuilt so idk.
