it doesn't have more hp because it is light weight...you still have 190 hp in a 5000lbs car and a 1500lbs car..

thank god there was 1 redeeming post for california.

If the elise has a gts motor and you have a GTS, WTF would you want to swap it for ????????? confused

My suggestions is learn a lil bit more about your car and the engine in it before you think about a swap again. thumbsup

thats the best advice I can give ya.

not sure if you can cause there's other things in a care besides just the engine. but it probably wouldn't be worth it because it would probably be just about as expencive to order a lotus ECU as gettin ga power FC and the Power FC probably has a lot more options for tuning than a stock car ECU.

NO you can't thumbsdown

Buy a PFC and tune it. However, before you do anything start reading and learning.

i didnt say it has more hp, just that its faster than the celica cause its way more lighter...and its pointless to swap rofl rofl just cause you have the same engine as the lotus doesnt mean your gonna be as fast as one

Um, sorry to dissapoint you, but the Lotus and the Celica do not use the same ECU acording the the Elise owners who have checked it out, Lotus uses their own ECU with the 2ZZ, and the wiring harneses aren't the same (so, they can't be interchanged without a harness)

Lotus definitley retuned for their car, the flat spot just before lift has been fixed, by slightly lowering lift engagement and adjusting the cam phasing. Apparently they also showed toyota what they did, so this tuning will probably be used on future 2ZZ applications.

However, aside from this, most of the actual gains came from the exhaust, and some tuning to the ECU to optimize it. You can do the same with an exhaust, Intake and Power FC, you'll probably see better gains.

The ONE advantage to using a Lotus ECU may just be hinged upon wether or not it's more receptive to reprogramming than the Toyota ECU. However, nobody has dug that deep into it yet. Upgrading may be as easy as plugging in a tuner module or a new chip.

that was supposed to say NOT the same rofl I suckj at typing and I rarely check to make sure its right lol

the plugs for the ecu are also different so you'd need an adapter of some kind to even try it. but it's NOT worth doing.

um. this thread is pointless. I mean the topic is engine swap and both engines are the same...so. lol. If you get the Power_FC its like the same thing as getting the ECU. And its much much cheaper. It takes like 2min to install. And if you buy it from monkey wrench racing its already tuned to your car.
