I see the commercial for this thing all the time on SpeedChannel. Its called the G-Tech Pro Performance Meter. There is no hardwiring you need to do. The company says all information is taken from the cigarette lighter and sensors inside the unit. Measures HP, Torque, Speed, G forces, 1/4 mile time, RPM's, etc. etc.

http://www.gtechpro.com/

I want to get it and try it, but not if its BS.

i think its BS, cause i highly doubt there are any sensors or signals that travel through our cirgarette lighter. i wouldn't say its accurate but it does give a ball park figure if what you have.

^^the site says all readings are accurate within +/- .01 sec. for 1/4 mile time, +/-1% for HP, +/- 1% for Torque, +/- 2% for RPM.

So if the meter says you have 130 HP. The reading is accurate to +/- 1.3 HP. So HP could be 128.7 to 131.3 HP. Thats pretty accurate, so they say.

The company says the meter takes net HP, or real world HP. Dyno HP is higher due to ideal conditions. No drag from wheel spin, or aerodynamic drag. So readings will be lower then manufacturers data.

they are pretty cool. the one I saw was always off by .03 seconds. but you have to get an accurate weight of your car or it's not gonna be correct.

otherwise they really are fairly accurate.

yea i got an rr for chrismas, i have not had a chance to really play around with it yet,the thing is you do haved to be very accurate with the weight(like i have to get the car weight + full tank of gas,14.5 gallons@6.1#per gallon +the weight of me + my speaker box)gtech seem to be perrty cool so far but you really haved to be on good conditon roads or you'll get funky readings from bumps and stuff. im suppost to go to Thunder Hill next month so i'll update you guys on how it proforms. grin

Yes, its as accurate as you set it up. You have to put in all the figures correctly and line it up properly. It's sensitive to how its positioned on the car. I used mine at the track once to see how accurate it was and it was off .1 in the 1/8th. Not bad, only cost me $50 shipped. Thats accurate enough for me to know close enough how im running.

best thing to do is go to ANY truck stop. They almost always have a scale. You just go in and tell em you want the weight done with you in the car. make sure you have your normal level of gas and thats it. you'll have your exact weight.

my older brother has one of those. we used it to do 1/4mi runs. It seemed pretty accurate. It said my brother was runnin low and mid 12's with his turbo SC2 and my gts was runnin 14's. Kinda crazy how it works but it seemed to work.

cant say ive done that before... ahh crap

Its useless for the other stats it gives, but its bang on for 0-60 & 1/4 mile readings. Cause I ran with it down the 1/4 mile at the track, and track time / G-TECH time was almost exactly the same...just off by like .02 of a sec. I got 15.12 on the GTECH @ 95mph, timeslip read 15.20 @ 92mph. And I ran with it every run, and it was just off by .1 of a sec. So pretty damn close & the MPH was a tad higher.
