I've heard that the AEM cold air intake may suck in water and it's bad for the engine. Is this true??? Does rain and snow effect it in anyway????? I live in Missouri and as you know it, snow and rain are very common. I just bought an AEM intake, but still hesitate to install it. Please give me some advice???

well there's a bypass valve for the intake sold on this site you can attatch that will solve the hydrolock problem. it'll keep the water and snow from being sucked in through the intake. dont worry about it, most ppl on this site rarely ever encounter this problem so you should be fine.

the only way you'd hydrolock is if you drove through a deep puddle and submerged the filter in the water

True. It would only happen if you drown your intake in water or snow, but still be careful and clean your intake. rice

note that the by pass valve is not 100 % guarantee, just be careful with water puddles

To install the bypass valve don't you have to cut the intake? I heard it was really hard to install. Anyone know anything about this?

I also just bought and AEM intake. I ordered a bypass from at the same vendor but found out that the bypass is "not recommended for my application." Apparently there is a fitment problem or something. Has anyone else heard about this. I'm gonna call AEM to find out.
