are you sure you have the 2 connectors back in all the way?

make sure everything is connected securely
take the needles off again with two spoons.
gently push them back on but NOT hard, they should move smoothly
if they show no sign of moving smooth or get stuck or dont move, then you broke the motor.

Don't push them on all the way - it may just be friction against the new gauge face. My tach was like that because it was rubbing, til I pulled it back off a little.
Otherwise you gotta find a junk yard or $500 cry

That's what I got quoted when I panicked and called a Toyota dealer.
I dropped my speedo needle into my steering column and it was resting under the ignition switch. I could find it with a pencil shoved under the steering wheel adjustment hammer under the column...racked up my knuckles reachin in through the top. After an hour of bustin my hand, I called the dealer and he said $500 for a new gauge cluster. That's when I realized take the plastics off the steering column.
Point being, yeah, don't break that shit, or lose those needles.
