i was wondering if anybody can tell me more about the orginial trasmission in my 00 gts? i heard there was a recal or something and im 100 % sure my tranny is the old one. I also heard the gear ratios may be alittle better in my car then the 01's and on. It seems to be running strong other than a small squeak from 1rst to 2nd. any info on this tranny will be helpful.
thanks

its the close gear gates?(i think thats what they're called), people had problems mis-shifting leading to blown engines. I have the same original tranny, but I never mis-shift so its all good

It's just the shift gates that are tighter. the gearing is the same.

The reason you see so many variances in the time slips is mostly due to how high in the rpm's people land after shifting. I've seen people land as low as 5500 rpms and others land at 6400 rpms like you're supposed to. this can cause a variance of .5 seconds or more. It's basically all about who is driving. A great way to measure 2 drivers in a gts is to look at the 330' marker. with equal 60' times, he 330' marker will tell you who was shifting the 1-2 shift better thumbsup

When i shift from 1st into 2nd my gears or something squeak, is that bad? And when I redline 1st and then go into 2nd i can get it in maybe 1 of 3 times.

Think i can take it to the dealer and they will fix it?

there is a prior forum that talks about how to fix the the 1rst to 2nd squeak. my car does it too but from what i hear its not worth the effort to fix.

If its really hard to put in into 2nd gear, think i need to take it in and have it looked at?

most definitly, the squeak is one thing but difficult shifting is totally different ballgame.

Ya, well mr mis-shifter here. Im on my 3rd engine in like 2 months. Its not my fault about the second one though, since the guy who re-built my engine decided to leave a rag in the oil pan...but i have a hard time getting the 1-2 shift since it feels like there is a wall sometimes blocking it from going into 2nd. dam syncros wont speed up fast enough.

Is it my transmission that is bad or whats the deal?

Do I have to pay anything down, or does my warrenty cover it all?

And also how long does it generally take to fix it?
