I have Bat's center hood stripe overlay on my hood. I took a heatgun to it..and it started seperating the vinyl. I made it wet and it wouldn't budge. Suggestions? I have half of a hood stripe on my car.

the bodyshop had a hard time getting mine off too
i think it'll take time, but keep heating it up cause it peels way easier than not heating it up. you don't want to harm your paint.

I damaged my headlights trying to remove them.

Wrong chemicals messed up the headlight lenses and didn't get the adhesive off. frown

What is the correct method on removing his overlays when in contact with the paint?

A blow dryer and a 2 clothes with "wipe off" or something like that, they sell it at Autozone. It like some orange concentrate. Or Goo Off would work. Just be gentle. and dont forget to wax and buff out the area.

if you can get a edge up you can steam it with one of those personal steam cleaners and that will do both wet and hot (steam) so it should pop it up

The hairdryer worked the best for me for getting the actual overlay off, and then my Dad used a lot of different things to try to get the adhesive that was left behind off.

Just make sure that what you use is safe for use on plastic. Stuff like Goo-Gone is not stong enough to get it off.
