Just tryin to gather an opinion. What do you think of a Jeep Wrangler? For daily driving in snowy Colorado weather. Someone in the family wants one. Just tryin to gather an opinion.

hell yes, my two best friends have jeep wranglers, one has 75,000 miles and one with 25,000 miles and they are identical in body style, and color, only main difference are the tires they are rolling on...

i have driven with them up to wyoming, and they arent that great on the highway, they trudge along, but with the soft top they are really loud, though when we were looking at jeeps i knew i didnt want a hard top either.

umm... off road capabilty is great, driving in the snow amazing, (remember that snow storm a couple years ago? these guys were out in it, no problem. (and i was with them, haha)

get a soft top, running boards and all you need is the 4cyc engine, manual

but watch out you cant really load it up with electronics or anything locks are worthless on these cars cause you can just unzip the windows to get in...

heres a pic from lost springs wyoming, population 4!!! and the jeeps...

Jeeps are pretty nice but they are the polar opposite of the Celica. Oh and the stock sound blows big time unlike the Celica. Driving one isn't bad though you can go pretty much anywhere just a little slower than the Celica, which is good for you right?

haha slower, my friends can beat me off the line in their jeeps (my celicas auto though) but hell ya whole shot i have them for...

they arent that slow, we flew through wyoming going 100 mph...

and the heater rocks suprizingly for such a "open" vehicle. though a downside is there is no space for gear or stuff unless you take out the rear bench... the space behind the rear bench isnt much...

my friend has a jeep and geez. if i would have found a jeep before a celica i would have gotten it! lol. but i still love my celica. back to the topic!

well i've mooched some rides off my friend many times and i would have to say, get a hard top. even though you have to find a place to store the top, its a better deal. less air noise and safer because it doesnt have zippers to open the window! and get the new improved longer jeeps. they look cool! lol jk. and it would also be warmer i guess because of the hard top since you are in colorado. good luck with (family member's) decision. tell them good choice thumbsup

I see jeeps flying all over the highway here. Maybe the drivers have a little inferiority complex when it comes to how slow a jeep is. But yeah, jeeps are fun. Expect to have to do lots of maintenance though. Reliability is a problem.

today is January 2nd... this morning about 7:00 i rolled my friends brand new liberty, almost assisting in the death of him, my other best friend, and myself... the airbags didnt deploy (side airbags) which could have prevented the cuts on my head requiring multiple stitches... Considering the fact that the vehlicle flipped once and rolled 3 times the vehicle wasnt in that bad of shape, just in a bunch of shapes all over the pavement... i dont like them personally, the liberties are built basically the same way that the wranglers are... very topheavy, but very capable off road... ur choice dude... hammer down thumbsup thumbsup

liberty is not a jeep... wrangler is a jeep. tj is jeep... they dont have side impact airbags and they have a switch to make the passanger bag optional... they do have a roll cage almost built in

soft tops are good but iv heard they are heavy too, and not a one man job... soft tops are good in colorado, plus the windows dont get frosted up like glass you can just shake off the frost...

hey buddy, i had a jeep wrangler aobut 5 months ago. i had it 3 years. Man i loved it. my rents made my get a new safer more efficeint car for college. mainly didnt want me flipping it ont he highway. That thing was my baby. Now it is completely opposite fomr the celica. get atleast the sport so it has the v6. and i loved having the top down. now it was a bit of a hassle putting it up and down but i got pretty good at it. Gas millage was complete crap. aobut 13-15. but then agian i have a lead foot smile I'l post some pics of mine. i cherished that thing and kept it in great condition.

Also its grea tin accidents wink I crashed it once, puylling out, didnt see a lady (didnt really look) i had a tube bumper, it cought the wedge between fender and her door. i stopped, she didnt and it toor off her door. i got alittle scratch on my bumper wink If you have any other questions aobut it feel free to PM me. i plan on getting anyoehr one later in life smile

about its speed. it had great acceleration to aobut 40. and with a top speed of 99 its nto a racer wink but that didnt stop me, i woudl weave all in thraffic with it. after you learn its limits on handling its great. As for sterio i had the option of the sterio with the sub woofer in the middle console. it saounded awsome. laoud and great bass. if you can afford it deff get a sahara for all the added stuff. i got the sport and it was great with the options added. cost about 22k. offroading was liek nothing else. the 4x4 mode sucked gas quick but handeled so well. went "mudding" with ym dad in his lifted ram and i was deff able to get to places he couldnt mainly due to size and ability. The ride is in no was smooth or quiet. Heater was great smile I woudl drive to school when it was like 40 with top down, big jacket and heater on. really didnt feel it as much wile driving but once you stopped it was great wink And if you ever happen to say drive into a pont, wont affect it. I drove into about 2 1/2 feet of water with no problem, always splashing it over the hood and never had a hydrolock problem. Alsop there are drainholes in the bottom of the inside so you can wash it out, or if ur like me, forget ot put hte top up and it rains. I had aobut and inch or more of water in my floor, pulled the plugs and carpet ocmes right out. I really have nothing but high praise for my jeep. minus its complete inefficentcy with gas and storage, but who cars, its a really fun car to drive.

i never had any maintence issues with my jeep until the very end. I kinda found a very deep lake and went into it. it messed up my computer. so had to have that replaced. engine was fine, can swamp that bitch smile but i think the ecu got damage so car wasnt starting btu they fixed that right up. Handling was great for a 4x4 wink The tires wear weird becasue they are ofraoding tires so mine needed changing by like 30000 but then again i peel out and do very fast cornereing so wear them out. It handles very well weeving through traffic. but you cant corner of liek 35. my friend did it at 40 and went on 2 wheels. we both leaned to his side and it fell back down so i never tried that smile You jsut have to remeber its a jeep and not a celica when cornering. Also it was heavily affected by wind esp when the softop was on. so it rocked abit on highways smile and if you want a quiet ride, between wind and offroading tires it was in no way quiet. I must say i miss the topdown life though. damn no convertable celicas. any other ?'s? glad to be of assistance. figure i drove it every second i coudl whiel in highschool so know ins and outs of it. was very sad to see it go but the toyota dealership was very happy to see it. he couldnt belive how well i kept it clean inside and out. look brand new for 27k miles.
