Definitions Of Rice (DOR)

1. rice

An automobile that has been equipped with gawdy, unnesecary accessories, such as 3' high spoilers, loud and/or repulsive paint job and body work. Owners of such automobiles feel that these accessories make their car the best in the world, when in fact it is not.

2. Rice

any modification that is supposed to make a car look fast, when in fact it does nothing for speed, and may in fact hurt performance, or any vehicle that has been subjected to this treatment. note that any make of vehicle may be "riced". gaudy, pointless, absurd body modifications and paint schemes, annoying bees hive exhaust tips. asians are the best at "ricing" a vehicle, along with spoiled rich white high-school teenagers

3. Rice

i) Food staple, ususally associated with asian countries but consumed worldwide.

ii) A car, usually a late model of japanese origin, that has had numerous features added to it that may enhance its looks, but do nothing for its performance.
Examples include "VTEC" and "Mugen" stickers, large spoilers, chrome wheels ( see also bling bling ), large diameter exhaust pipes,
clear brake light lenses and lowered springs.

4. rice

v. To take a shitty jap car, add some Vtech stickers, spoiler, and fuck up the camber.

5. rice

To excessively modify and augment the physical appearance of sub compact economy vehicles in an attempt to make it them fast. Examples include unsightly body kits, oversised mufflers, (which are actually detremental to performance) neon lighting, thousands of decals, and of course, twenty inch rims which are far too heavy for these vehicles to handle.

6. Rice

Rice is a term used to describe a trend in the modern, American, car culture. An offshoot of the true underground street racing scene of the late 80s, where people want to become a part of the scene, though they were never really involved in it at the beginning. So when some one puts what would be considered Rice on their car it is in an effort to fit into the image of the street racer. The cheapest way to look like this way is with purely sensory modifications, Altezza lights, large muffler tips without any exhaust modifications, wild paint, wild body kits, spoilers, mismatched badges and stickers, large flamboyant rims, excessive stereo, etc.
Anything that would appear to add performance, but inreality does not.Though any care can be riced it usually occurs with sport compact cars both domestic, and foreign. The ricer modifies his or her car to please others, rather then himself, they are more concerned that their car looks fast, that if it is fast.

my DOR is basicly things you have on your car that you dont really need..that has no figure of statement such as " FEAR THIS" sticker..when i have nothing to fear when its on a geo metro.. or putting a aluminum wing on a lincoln navigator which is not even a sports car..pointless things..if you were to add parts to your car it better look good on ur car..but if you were gona put a NOS sticker with no NOS...that your rice..I got clear lens on mines or euro tails on mines but i dont think its rice because it serves as a purpose to enhance my car looks... but to make yoru own tails because they dont make it for your car such as spraying your tails n order to make them look euro thats rice... rice

Anyhing "showy" on a car could be considered to be rice, according to the strictist definition. Plenty of people think wings/spoilers of any kind are rice, and face it, they pretty much are just decoration on a FWD car. But a lot of us think they look nice too. Rice, or not? Depends on your point of view.

Good question goodjob I personaly dont think anything is "rice" I think it was made up by people who didn't have the money to do what someone else did to there car that they liked and they just got bittered, sort of like playa hatin thumbsup.

crazy Who really cares? If people wanted to make other people feel bad about their cars, they should have came up with a better term than 'rice'. I agree with how bad a lot of the things people do to their car are. Like the aluminum wings and stickers for things you dont have, but some of the things people come up with that are rice are just plain stupid. Part of the fun of the hobby is making your car also look good. If that is rice then I could really care less. cheers

I wouldn't think so. The urban definition implies that you MIGHT be more apt to be a ricer, as compared to a non-Asian, but it is indicated as a tendency rather than a complete sterotyping generalization. wink

And - yep, we're ALL ricers...except for those few who have opted for no mods whatsoever. Pass the butter, homefries!!

To me, rice isn't just the things you put on your car or the crappy mods you do. Rice is an attitude.

You can be a ricer without any mods at all, or you can have graphics, a wing, and 19 inch rims and not be a ricer. Obviously, there are some mods that are purely rice - no matter the attitude, it's just wrong. What really matters, however, is whether the person behind the wheel thinks he has the fastest car in the world, or whether he's just proud that his car looks good to him.

Am I making sense?

Please i know some guys with STi's that are ricey, but thats them its kinda of unfair to infringe my ideals onto theirs about their cars so lets just ease up on the term Rice. Some guy i know at my school calls all japanese cars rice. this was my response:

we all have things that dont add hp to our cars..like clear lenses and gauges, and instead having real turbo gauges, we have gauges that monitor, voltage, and water temp... wtf rice doesnt have a true definition..everyone says, and i know i have, that all civics are rice and sometimes hondas in general..whos to say that all celicas are rice?? they are girl cars i know that for sure...before i had my celi, i had a 97 sunfire with i/e...so does that make me a ricer?? but like hombredelassrtas said, if ya love your car, other peoples opinions dont meat s**t!!!
