CCFL installed...ricey? Feedback please.

I installed the CCFL lights under my footwells..It took me awhile to decied on this..but for 5 bucks?..what the hell..and i just got red LEDs for my gauges and radio as well. Luckly i was able to pick them up from SVC themselves to save me shipping cost. People have probably dones this already...but i need my feedback. Instead of getting a switch..i just kept the "computer" one that came attached to it. I mounted it next to my shift knob...dose this look like a good spot? Thanks for the future veiws and good or bad feedbacks.. Ricey or not??

they are an awesome company that is really reliable. they called me to inform that they sent out my order before they even received my payment. They are very cool and trustworthy to do business with.

leds are better btu i dont think they look as bright. leds break less easily, and take less power, but i liek the solid color of ccfls and not the dot style of leds. but yea your flowchart is right

All I can say is be cafeful with the footwell neons. Friend put some in(red), well about 3 weeks later we were hangig out, wet to the mall, got back and right when he put it in nuetral, smoke filled the cabin with smoke (came out the ac vents) I could tell it was electrical. got out looking all around. he open where the fuse box was and there it was(smoldering at this point, we put it out.

That looks really nice, I have neons in my car. I like the softer neon light as opposed to the really bright CCFLs or LEDs. As for the fire issue, I'd say make sure you run a direct line to the battery and include an inline fuse because a fuse tap is not too electrically sound.

I tapped my cables to where the line from the fuse box starts behind the console. that way any shortage in the electrical won't get worse...I never tap anything directly to the battery coz all it's asking for is trouble... Babyboi loved you CCFL... it's bluer than mine...

mine are tapped behind the cig lgither like in the install. havent had a problem yet. what do you all think aobut the fuse taps that have there own fuse? was goign to use one of those for my S7 gauges. tap into my tailights

The best way to tap your CCFL is the the cig power...it's safer coz it's got a fuse and if anything short circuits the fust will the only one be affected and not any other electronic devices you have. Trust me i friend my cig fuse once when I accidentally short circuited my CCFL the first time I was installing a new switch rofl rofl silly forgot to turn off the batteries...

hombredelassrtas..yeah anything with fuse is good and safe..but then again you can use your gauge cables to tap to power that S7 gauge of yours...
thumbsup that's where I tap also to power my shift light

I dunno, I think fuse taps are just asking for problems. If you properly wire something directly to the battery you'll never end up posting a message like... wtf my console lights are broken, etc etc. Granted if you don't feel comfortable doing it a fuse tap isn't the worst thing you can do provided you do it right. The ones with a fuse in it is a little safer, but it's really just as easy to wire a switch in and set-up a separate "toys" powerline; know what I mean? That way you just have one direct power line to attach all of your fancy electrical stuff to and you can leave the cars stock electrical system alone. However, if you don't research and know what you're doing, you'll be looking at a new alternator tongue

in the cig lighter you mean? If my memory serves me correct the green is the power. it connects to the back of the cig lighter to power it. However it's been a while since I've seen my car (at college) so I'd wait on someone whose more sure.

I dunno I wouldn't mess with the gauge, but it's up to you. I was installing a viper remote start and alarm system and we had to connect a tachwire, and man was I shitting my pants behind the gauge cause you can really fuck stuff up there. I mean not horribly bad, but it's just more stress than I would be willing to be under, and I feel comfortable doing a lot of electrical work, that's just an area I won't touch unless I have to.
