I got a notice in the mail asking if i want to extend my warranty to 5 years 100k miles. I got a 01 gt auto with 22700 miles. I'd be paying 1879 with 360 down payment and 127 a month for the first 12 months. Theres no deductible, they pay for everything, but doesn't cover brake pads and something else, i forget. If at any point before the 5 years that i want to sell my car or got into an accident, they would reimburse me the amount remaining depending on when i sold it or got in an accident. Now, with all this said, is it worth getting the warranty. 1879 is a lot of money and if i go 5 years without using the warranty, i'd be pissed. How reliable is the celica? Have you guys had any problems with the celly?

see what is covered. you want to make sure you go engine and transmission, electronics and airconditioning. Brake pads and change oil are just regular wear and tear. normally to get those replace would be cheap and cheap if you DIY. extended warranty are great if you are planning to keep your car stock. If you're gonna start replacing it with performance parts and other custom works...the company can easily void you warranty...but since you got a auto gt you might probably go for looks rather than performance upgrade. bodykit, interior seats...sound system...but then again if you damage your car warranty only covers stock replacement. So bottom line is if you gonna stay stock...it might still be worth getting them. If you have a lot of know how in mechanics and planning to do some upgrades/mods..I suggest you keep your money and spend it on mods.

They would never offer a warranty like that if they didn't plan on making money off it. That's how all "for sale" warranties work. So, if your Celi only requires an "average" number of repairs, you're losing money. The main benefit you get is protection against a possible major problem. Generally, I avoid "for sale" warranties because if you look at the broader picture, you can buy them for all sorts of things, especially home appliances. If you bought no warranties, you would on average do better because you have several appliances.
So, I wouldn't buy an extended warranty. If you do, you're basically buying peace of mind. Not necessarily a bad thing though.
