I have always thought that a Celi with the GT300 widebody kit would look good in black, but black will not get you as many points as a custom color will. I want a color that will match my unpainted carbon fiber parts. Besides my BRS hood, I plan to get a carbon fiber rear hatch and maybe do the roof in Carbon Fiber also.
Sorry to post a pic of a Nissan on here, but I love this paint job.

What do you all think of this color?

That color goes really well with the carbon fiber. From a distance you can't tell that some parts are carbon fiber, but from up close you car. Good Choice!

Thanks Weasel.

Thanks Veilside.

The only thing I'm worried about is that it won't stand out at a show like a bright color will and might not get noticed by sponsors or magazine coverage. I think it would look pretty mean though.

One more question on top of the custom paint opinion.

How do you all think it would look to have the DVD/PS2 screen molded at the top of the console like the pic above, then the CD player below the screen, then a profec e-01 molded in below that?

The AC Panal would be moved and the ash tray removed to make room for a turbo timer.

Center console painted red with the dash painted the same dark gray as the exterior, which will also match the carbon fiber parts in the interior.

Then the PS2 molded into the passenger side of the dash.

How would that look?

Thanks everybody. All good ideas. I have not seen my hood in person yet. It looks like it almost black and the Nissan at the top of this page is gray. Is there such a thing as black Carbon Fiber and gray Carbon Fiber?

I just realized that I don't know a damn thing about custom paint. I don't even know what you guys are talking about when you mention all these different kinds of paint jobs. What does that mean when a color has peral in it? Just a mixture of colors? I've heard people talking about it, but never found out what it is.

pearl usuallly means it changes colors under different light
like dark blue to light blue
my subaru was black..java black pearl..it was normal black, then in the sunlight, it was green, gold and other fakes in it giving it a different color

TONS of people give compliments on paint like that, you should go for that

Like this is an orange with gold peral paint, but still not sure what peral is.

What do you guys think of this color anyway? This car belongs to a guy named Richard on the other site. I went over there to ask him for some advise about my APR kit and he was very helpful.

Then I noticed he had posted a topic with this color chop he did on his car and asked everybody for their opinions. Well, as you all know, most of the guys on that site are assholes. So he only got a few replies to his topic and they were from guys saying things like..."Orange is gay" or "Why don't you paint it flat black".
A show car, flat black spineyes

Anyway, I was hoping you guys could give him your opinion of this paint job he is thinking of doing and I'll send him this link when we have a bunch of replies on here. Thanks

That's it? 8 people out of 10,000 are the only ones that will give me an opinion?

How about this...If you don't feel like writing anything, you could just do like Toiletpaper has done on all of his 2,302 post and just put a thumbsup
(Just kidding Toilet paper) grin

So your reply could look like this...

1. thumbsup Meaning...You like the gray paint job.

2. thumbsdown Meaning...You hate my dash idea and think all my ideas suck.

3. thumbsup Meaning...You like the orange with gold peral paint that Richard is thinking of going with.

I would even be happy with this. Thanks.

eric...the dark grey is nice...but if you had it done with the subaru wrx java black pearl it would look nuts...just ask the guy to step up the pearl a bit and it will be an amazing custom job...as for pearls...what they do, my good buddy, is reflect the sun a little differently than a simple glare reflection...your car would look black, but under the glare of the sun on show day the curves and bulges would reflect a hint of deep gold according to where you stood...ITS SERIOUSLY AMAZING...especially detailed to show standards...I'll try to find a pic for you, but that would be my choice...or COUGHroyalsapphireCOUGHpearl

Thanks everybody. Now I really have to see this peral black.
Would it match unpainted carbon fiber? I would love to see a black with red peral like celicaTRDgts was talking about.

Dont go with black pearl most carshows are inside and you wont be able to showoff the pearl and black looks good but its not a color you want if youre trying to win at carshows and you seem to want to win best of show with your car have you seen the tanabe 350z and skyline you should go with a color like that

Thanks caldebe, I was just wondering about that. If it would just look black at all the indoor shows. Black cars do not do well at shows.
I have seen the Tanabe 350z, but not the Skyline. Do you have a picture of it. I would like to see it.

I'm sure you guys are sick of hearing about Bob Mulls car from me, but I have to keep his car in mind everytime I do a mod to my car, since he has the best show car there is, I have to do everything he's done, but I need to do it better.

Same with his paint. I think it scores higher than any other car. Not sure. I'll have to ask Jamey about that.

So, I need something that will score higher than this. If that's even possible.

I can't believe I never thought about that before, but now that you mention it, it doesn't look like he would be able to close it. I have seen pictures of his hood down though.

Yeah, that is a nice paint job. It's been driving me nuts trying to figure a way to out-do this guy. Everything is damn original. The whole widebody kit is custom made. What do you think of his side vents? Something like that molded to the bottom of my APR kit would look good huh?

eric...if you really want an original wide-body then use all of the apr gt300 kit except the front fenders...instead, extend the lines of the stock fender out, so that you have a JGTC style fender and widebody...like the top secret supra widebody kit...also, at the NOPI Nats a couple of years ago I saw a guy with a widebody, that had mounted an indiglow tach, boost gauge, air/fuel meter, and a couple of other things in his rear bumper...and they were functional...he said it was so the guy he was beating could see how bad it was...it looked custom as balls...the other thing I was suggest is if you do the rear brake disc conversion, then chrom all 4 calipers to help it stand out...I forget what rims you are using, but I know that it would look better than paint, and help the conversion stand out more...

you might want to also consider some kind of blue with just a hint of purple to really make it look deep. idunno

I think it would look really good with unpainted carbon fiber too.

Steve, are you crazy? I just paid $2,500 for that kit. Gotta use it all now.
A tach in the bumper? Can't even imagine why somebody would want that.
I am getting the rear disc brakes from these guys www.ssbrakes.com. [ssbrakes.com.] but you can't chrome calipers. The heat will ruin the chrome. I will have a Stopteck BBK on the front. Good idea though. Polished calipers do look good. You can see Mull has them in the pic above.
I do like Nautique65's car. I sent him a PM when I first joined this site, but never heard back from him. Love that paint and the matching wheels.

Pimp_Juice,
Welcome to ECelica. You and Steve are the only ones that have said something good about his car out of all the times I've posted it. Usually I get comments like...That car is gay, overdone or rice.

Thanks blitzceli,
Also a good idea and would probably be best way to go, money wise. I don't think I'm going to like it when I start pricing custom paint.

Thanks Chaz, but I have already bought a ton of red parts. So I have to pick a color to go with red.

Thanks Silvergts.

Same here. One little thing that is not done perfect and I flip. Took me a couple years to find a shop as good as the one my car is in now. A guy named Brent Davison is the one who is building my car for me. He owns a car audio shop and knows all the best places to do anything to a car. Great guy www.bdaudiocreations.com [bdaudiocreations.com] Where do you live? Maybe we can find a good shop for you.

This is my favorite paint job ever done...
I would love to do something like this on my red paint with just a darker red airbrush work. Not sure I want to know what Alpine paid for this paint job.
