I have noticed some condensation buildup in my front part of my right headlight. There are no cracks in the light anywhere, so I am assuming that the seal is broken or worn-out some place. Does anyone have any suggestions has to fixing this problem? I researched the price of replacement headlights and they are running around $265/per headlight!?! Any suggestions on how I can avoid this? Much appreciated.

You can fix it by taking it out and sealing it with silicone... it's in the install section...

BTW why is it always the right one that gets condensation... mines like that too

Really? that is strange. SO did you end up fixing yours? and if so was it a lengthy and difficult process? btw, thanks for the quick response

i think you cna use some silicone cauking aroudn the edges. to get rid of te ocndensation. take out the headlight, and tunr it upsidedwon in the sun for a few hours. then seal'er up and you shoudl be good. So you dont make a mess, line the part you want to seal with painters tape on both sides so you get a nice even line. smile

You have to take the front bumper out to get the last screw right?

If you still have your car under Toyota's Warranty i think they will replace your headlights with a brand new set.

This may be a dumb question, but when reading the instructions on the install page it didn't say anything about painting. What is paiting exactly?

lol i was just adding the painting wink If you put your headligths in the oven and take them apart. you can paint the inside. i figured if you have to reseal them anyways smile

also you dont need to jack up your car to take off front bumper. i laid a towel down and the ground and worked under it jsut fine.

You don't have to remove the bumper to get at the last headlight screw. Just take out the screw that connects the bumper to the fender in the wheel well. Then you can pull the bumper down a but to get at that last screw. Note: might not work with a fiberglass bumper.

Here's how you can seal the headlight without putting them in the oven. I removed my headlight to actually do it (did all the way around) but just threw tape on to illustrate what I meant...

If you want to paint your headlights, you have to open them first...
There are really good directions for opening the headlight here. Do steps 1 through 5, but not 6 and beyond. Steps 6 and beyond are for the different inserts, no need to trim anything for what we need.

2 things. I left the lights in for a full 15 minutes (preheat oven and turn it off right as you put in the light) and then I had my kid help me, he opened the clips on the lights as I pulled it open. I only had to heat each light once, and opened them with one complete pull. Good luck, they look awesome when they're done. I used Duplicolor wheel & rim paint. The color for the paint in canada is Graphite, so it might be different in the USA.

Here's a guide I made up when I did mine.

Great thank for the help, if it isn't covered under warranty, that's what I'll do. I like the paint job as well and if I'm already going to have them apart... might as well. Good write-up too

Yeah just masking tape & sealent. I used something called Goop Automotive. It's nice because it doesn't attract dust like silicone...

My passenger side gets condensation in it too. I pulled both out an painted them It was actually very easy. Just remember if you do it don't forget to remove the 3 small screws on the back. I forgot to do that and had a heck of a time removing it until I found the screws.

I still need to seal them but there's enough sealant in it to keep it fairly dry.

Good luck! thumbsup
