Ok if i get a cold air intake. where do i get a water shield(do i need one) . also what is hydro lock. will that be a problem. also what happen if you get a hydro luck

the splash guard is prolly a safe investment, it's like $50 or less so it's even worth the piece of mind I think. hydrolock is basically when you get water INSIDE your engine. When your intake sucks up water into your engine, your engine then tries to compress it, as if it was air then injects gasoline and attempts to create combustion, however, water doesn't compress in an engine too well, and as a result nothing to much happens, as in... dead engine. Will it be a problem for you? Maybe, maybe not, all depends on how you drive your car in the rain. The MAJORITY of hydrolocks occur from driving through a deep puddle with an intake, if you just get some splashing the hydrolock can probably be fixed, however if the intake is submerged and sucks in a lot of water you'll probably be looking at either a total engine rebuild or a new engine.

everyone thinks that injen heatshield/splash guard is the only option. for cold air, nobody sees the polished pretty injen finish or the name brand. at autozone they have splash guards/heatshields for like $10!

i heard it really doesnt do shyt.. it really just protects it from the bottom but if rain and water really wanted to get in there by all means its getting in there!!!!!
