Hi there,

I have a celica 2000 VVT-I (or GT in us).
I bought a AEM CAI 1st gen.
I am now about to go install it and I'm trying to read as much as I can about it.
One of the steps in the manual describes that on the bottom side of the airbox there is (or should be) a Vacuum Switching Valve for Closed Canister Valve, which should be connected to the AEM intake pipe
What I read on the following site [celica-club.co.uk] is that his celica doesn't have that. He just plugged the connection on the AEM Intake pipe.
I also read someone on this board also noticed the VSV for CCV not being present.

Is this a known issue?
Is it safe to indeed just plug it?
I figure if that VSV for CCV wasn't connected to the standard airbox, than it won't hurt not connecting it to the AEM intake since it is probably connected somewhere else.

Hope someone with more technical knowledge than me can help me out here.

hi spaztikid

Can you check what is connected to the little pipe about halfway the AEM pipe?
there's one small piping that goes into the big pipe, the other is to screw a VSV to.

I scanned the manual, might even come in handy for those of you who bought a 'no-name' intake smile

Page 1 [members.home.nl]
Page 2 [members.home.nl]
Page 3 [members.home.nl]
Page 4 [members.home.nl]
On page 3, figure 4 there is a VSV for CCV, from which I believe is not there on some celica's (it looks like it's not there on non-us celica's)

Hope this clears things a bit.
I hope someone can answer my questions in the original post

if you look at the pic i linked to there is the two hose connections at the top, they are bolted to the CAI. THere are only two more hoses, one is fat and aem provides you with it. It connects to the vsv for ccv. there is only one more hose after this. It is very thin and when the engine is on there is suction comeing from it. AEM provides you with a lug for this hose because it is not used.

Hi there

the problem is not all celica's appear to have the vsv for ccv. so there is no use for the supplied hose from AEM, since the vsv it is supposed to connect to isn't there.

If it's not there would it be enough to just plug the hole on the AEM pipe?
The vsv for ccv is probably placed somewhere else and will still be working then or am I thinking wrong?
