I've noticed people seem to claim that the Celica is over priced. And while I do believe it is expensive, after driving a 20k Eclipse RS, I can tell you there is a big difference. First of all the seats are 3x more supportive and comfortable in the Celica. The seats in the eclipse are just seats, while the seats in my Celica hug my figure. And although the Eclipse and the celica are about the same size, the Celica is about 450 pounds lighter. Third, the way speakers are setup in the doors are superior. I had MB quart 6 1/2s and tweeters in my eclipse but they didnt sound nearly as good as my celica because the way the Celica setup focus the sound.
Lets just say the Celica is far more REFINED than the eclipse and I'd never go back. Everything from the suspension to the carpet is better and Im happy.

I sorta agree with you. On the refinement, you're right on. But I don't think that should have too much of an effect on pricing. Looking at used prices, and comparing them to new prices, there's too much of a difference. The interior is decent, but it's merely ok at best. You get zero leather and there's not always a sunroof. Also, the depreciation in price is tremendous, where you'll find three year old gts' on sale with decent mileage for half price of a new one.

The high price is because all Celicas (and MR2's) are actually built in Japan, and then shipped over. Import fees rape you. Thats at least what I understand about the production

I think the only downside to the Celica in context to it's price is the power, the engine is fabulous and it's performance is good for how much or how little torque and power the car has, but that is about it. Doing 0-60mph in about 6 seconds is not bad for 180bhp.
