Hey, guys. I've had my Celica since new. Its a 2000 gts. Right from the start, I had problems with the alarm. Occasionally, I would press the unlock button on the remote, the doors would unlock, but the alarm would not disarm. I'd open the door and the alarm would go off (sometimes right away, sometimes not for a few seconds). Brought it back to the dealer and they could not find the problem. Well, I am a service tech by trade, so I figured I would look into it myself. Best I could come up with was that everytime this occurred, the dome light was not working. I managed to trace that back to a wiring harness to the right of the stereo (near the fuse box). It seems there may be a loose wire back there, because if i jiggle it, the dome light turns on and off. Well, I haven't pin-pointed the exact wire yet. Any of you that have seen the harness I am referring to know that there are a lot of wires back there. I was wondering if any of you have seen this before? Anyone got a schematic for this by any chance? Any theories on the relationship between the dome light and the alarm? I ran that one by the dealer and he told me the two were not related (which I did not buy). Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

There are some schematics in the service manual ( https://celicahobby.com/gallery/index.php/category/be ), but I don't think they cover the alarm system since that's an option. I found installation instructions for the RS3200 in a Tacoma; the layout may be different, but I expect the basic wiring is the same. http://www.geocities.com/toyota_speed2003/08586-04810.pdfThe Celica installation instructions may already be on this website, but I didn't see them. You may be able to get them through the faxback service. I'm told the number is 1-310-327-9905. You can request a catalog which lists the install guide and other handy items. The RS3200 install guide id number is 10008. Maybe between the service manual and the installation guide for the RS3200, you can figure out how the wiring is related. Good luck.

i said fuck it and got an aftermarket compustar 2-way alarm. and it works a hell of a lot better.

Even though I haven't had any problems with it, I'm generally unimpressed with the factory alarm myself. Trying to decide when/what I'm going to replace it with.
