Ok so I had it done had it on for about a month and a half. Last week my CEL cam on and my car started backfiring like crazy, I felt a huge power loss. the CEL code was P0171: Engine too lean.

Cleaned MAF, Injectors, ect nothing fixed. CEL kept coming back. Had my Resonator put back into the Greddy and Problem was solved...

Be warned

not getting enough backpreasure and it was cousing your engine to go lean. the only thing you can do is to do an ecu upgrade if you want to run that setup. Id just leave the resonator in if its working

I've had my resonator out for like...4 months now and I have an HKS Hi-Power. There's no way your car can detect something like that. The last sensor the Celica has is just after the Catalytic Converter. If you removed the resonator then that sensor should still be intact and working fine because it cannot detect anything after that. I just don't believe you can get a CEL from removing the resonator, you're the first I've heard of for sure.

I agree! Think about the people with the Kazuma exhaust, wouldn't they have even less back pressure not have any mufflers, canisters or resonators? And no one I know with the Kazuma had any problems. Could it be anything else that's causing it?

The backfiring I can understand cause I backfire a little, but not intensely crazy just when I let go of the throttle at high RPMs. But the CEL is still a mystery to me...

yea I have a custom megan racing canister welded on from the 1st resinator back. But I did get a CEL from bad O2 sensors went through a whole hectic hoopla to figure it out and I had emmission due. I worked w/ a mechanic at Toyota "cobb county toyota is amazing" and we came to conclusion it had to be the ECU. it was! and he got it replaced under the 80,000 mile warrantee. it was great

I had a custom exhaust made, from the cat and all the way back. Removed every OEM part. Backfires? Sure, some times. A slight noticable gain in performance? Yes. Awesome sound? Yes. Check engine light? Never.

Have driven it like I stole it? Yes :-)

I have done the Greddy Evo II Mod. I have experience minimal backfiring, more like slight pops/cracks. The only difference I have found from modified Evo II and un-modified Evo II is it's super loud, the way I wanted it. Sorry to hear your having problems.
