hey i was wondering if the engine light comes on cause you didnt twist the gas cap all the way tight, can you reset the ecu by taking the negative terminal off the post and push in the brake to fix it?(Pushing the brake in drains the power out the system)?

Yes (CEL due to gas cap), yes (reset ECU), and don't know (drain off power). For the ECU, make sure it stays disconnected for like 15-20 minutes.

just the disconnect the battery, twist on the cap.. 3-5 clicks. you can leave it disconnected for like 5 min., so you dont have to wait that long.

umm...have you tried turning off your car, opening and closing tightly the tank, then turning it on?
maybe i'm wrong...but that would be the easiest way to do it.

You can also pull the 15 amp fuse out of the engine bay junction block, and you won't lose your clock, stereo settings. I think that's what morris posted...but I didn't click the link. Also, be aware that evap codes are not removed so easily, and you might get another CEL after driving a few hundred miles. Takes like 10 cycles of the system to clear out an evap code.
