I heard that if you put a turbo on a celica ur engine will blow because it has high compression. Does anyone know anything bout this?

Your answer is false ... you can turbo both the GT and the GTS .. it all depends on how much money you want to spend.

GT is good for about 10psi , 7psi safely ... GTS I have no clue

GTS has a high compression ratio so it is not a good canidiate for forced induction, i.e. turboing.

GT is better for a turbo.

There are turbo out for both the GT and the GTS.

Please search the forum using the search function ... keyword "turbo" this topic has been covered lots and lots of time ... you should find plenty of information to answer all your questions.

Thanks grin

i never said you could not turbo the gts. XS has a turbo for it. i simply said that gts might have more of a problem because of its higher compression.

Rice got it right. You can blow your motor, yes. But only if you are boosting too much. The GT is run at 7psi for daily driving...can probably be put up to 10 psi here and there for track races. The GTS I believe is run at 5psi for daily driving, and can maybe handle 7 becuase of the high compression you cannot boost as much. The GT and GTS have differents comp ratios. If you upgrade the GTS pistons to have a lower comp, you can boost more. Catch my drift?

would a supercharger be a better way to go then a turbo? I already know that the gts comes with a small trd one. what do you think is the best charger to be put on a celica.

it wouldn't matter cause there are no superchargers made for the celica except a TRD one that doesn't fit and a Blitz that costs a lot of money and I think a turbo has higher gains than it for the same or less money.

Turbos have higher peak gains, while superchargers have a broader power band. Choose your poison.

I know that...I just meant as in general hp gains...i should have been more specific.

HOw would you upgrade ur pistons would you change the head or what? What would you say to the mechnic for it? Just say upgrade it or change it to GT compression?Im a little confused about compression.
