I just got my engine back from being re-built and it sux...and allow me to explain why. I sent it in the shop about 1 month, 3weeks ago to get it fixed and the guy (Mike)at Performance Direct said it would be about 2-3 weeks to get it fixed. and about $5150. Ok, 1 month later, i call and am like whats the deal (But trust me i called many times b4 in that 1 month's time) and he tells me that i need a new head and that almost all my valves are bent. Ok, used head:$650. Total now at $5800. time now at 1 month 1 week. Sent friends to take pics of engine progress, they come back with pics of beer on my car and parts scattered on floor... WTF. I go to check and confront the situation, all i get is an apology and a statement saying it wont happen again. Finally they get my car engine in car 1 1/2 month after i sent it in. Go to pick it up, found out they backed it into something, and large white scratch on rear bumper. They refuse to give insurance co. name.Drive it less than 8 mi. car overheats. Take it back, and next day they said something wasnt connected to the thermostat or something and now "its fixed." Break in period: its fine until about 380 mi when it has a full tank of gas and the car feels as though its ran out and studdering... Doesnt do that all the time, but still worries me. So after 500mi oil change, go to kick in the vvtl-i. Hello wall. Stops at 6k on the dot. engine light pops up and turns off. Pull to side of road to check problem, all of a sudden sounds like a nut under the valve cover just starts flying around and stops. car runs like crap and wondering what should be my next step?

Yeah, tell them they have 1 chance to fix everyting before you take them to court. Then when they fail, take them to court. If it ends up being small claims court, so you might only need a lawyer to give you some advice. I don't know what the cutoff for small claims is in Virginia.

take em to court and sue them for the max amount that small claims allows, is it $10,000? say the rest is for time, money and laywer fee wasted on fixing ur car.

hey y not take it to a reg court and sue them for more and say now you have to ship the engine out of state to have it fixed by pros

I did call the police the day when i went to pick it up the first time. They told me that either i had to work it out with them or take them to civil court. What sucks is that they are in Ashland and i am in chesterfield, close to the line of amelia which is like a 1 1/2 hour drive just to get there. Also, another thing i didnt mention was I dropped my car off on a Sat. and they didnt start on it until the NEXT wednesday. So my car sat there for 11 days b4 they touched it and they started new "business hours" the day b4 they pulled my motor. I cant even get in touch with them cause they guy doesnt even work during the day. He works after 5. Its so messed up and the biggest mistake i could have made with me car. Who thinks i can sue them for the full amount back? Man if i could get all my money back, id be getting the 2.0 stroker kit to make my ride a 3zz...that would be sweet.

you might be able to get that much out of them, if not more, but you'll need to be really thorough, have that pic with you when you do it.

I say go for it thumbsup

Oh trust me, I have been keeping a log of the entire event from October the 7th. Thats when i dropped my car off. Everything from "Oh i dont have the right tools to get your engine out of the car" to the kid in the shop who threatened to kick my father's butt.

its a shame when people take advantage of other people and do half a$$ jobs. i just have a question how come you needed your motor rebuilt and also why wouldn't you just buy a new motor sometimes you can find them cheap from junk yards?

well, i asked the guy what was wrong with it and he said all my valves were bent and that he needed to do some machine work to the head...it was all bs cause i only saw like 3 or 4 valves bent when i got my old head back. The only thing i needed was a valve job and i think that all he wanted was some extra money. He said that his shop was broken into and like 3 of his drag motors (fully built) were stolen. What i think, since he wont give me his insurance company's name, is that he doesnt have insurance, and that the people who sued him b4, since he has no coverage, were allowed by law to go into the shop and take whatever it was up to the value from which they sued. So they took his motors.

So let me ask something guys. I see that the stock pistons have recessed areas for valves...and having those areas help create the lift in the gts if im not mistaken? So, what will happen to my motor since he put dome-top pistons in the motor? The car wont go into lift now, but if it were to go there, would the pistons collide with the valves?
