Ok, I need to know everything there is to know about installing an aftermarket stereo in a celica. My girlfriend has a 97 GT and half of the buttons have fallen off her radio. For Christmas I'm going to take her car while shes at work and install a new stereo for her... hence the fast install and needing to know all the things that could go wrong. I've done many stereo installs, just never in a celica.
First things first... how do you get the radio out?
Her stock stereo is larger than a single DIN. Not sure if its a 1.5 DIN or double DIN. Is it the system 10 that I've read about? Should I buy one of those install kits or should I find a non system 10 plate at a junk yard like I've seen suggestions for?
Wiring... is there more than one kind of plug? On some of the cars I've done, the store would give me the wiring adapters and they wouldnt fit because there were several different types of plugs for the same year and model car.
Will I need an antenna adapter?
Any special tools for removing the radio or dash pieces?
Pictures, write-ups, diagrams, and suggestions are all welcome. Anything I didnt think of that I might run into please tell me. I've only got about 2 hours to do this, which should be plenty of time if I'm fully prepared and know what to expect.
Thanks.
