I love the celica, but the power of the GT is a little depressing at times. I was thinking of either selling my GT and then buying a GTS or trading in my GT for a GTS so I don't have to try and sell it. What do you guys think? Would you do that?

And no I cant do a GTS engine swap because I have no clue where to start and I just don't want to go through any problems trying to do that.

y not just Turbo ur GT..it'll be faster then GTS..well try to sell it first to get more money, if you trade it in u'll loose the value..if you can't sell it after awhile then trade it in..

I don't want to go through with a turbo. I've heard of too many problems with them.

if you really want power dont go with a gts, or a celica for that matter. get an srt-4 or wrx.

I agree with the post above. As much as I love the Celi (Coming from a GT to a GTS), if you want power, get something else. I went back to a GTS because I am in love with the style and feel of the Celica.

if you want something decently quicker then a GTS
if you plan on racing or are a speed nut, then WRX or anything around that.

Yeah, if all you care about is speed, a GTS probably won't make you happy. Not my #1 thing, so I'm quite happy with the GTS.

Its not like a GT or GTS is made to be fast stock.

If you have the money to spend on a turbo, I would go with that. Just spend some time researching and you will find one that is reliable. You can get it professionally installed for around $1,000. As for maintenance, regular oil changes and 5 minute warm-ups are all it takes.

If you like your GT (handling, looks, etc), then I'd go for the GTS (sell, then buy). The power isn't a ton greater (40HP or so), but you'll enjoy lift, I'm sure!

Of course, if you find a good turbo setup, you'll be spanking the GTS, so go with that. thumbsup

I thought about it also, but figured I would lose too much on the trade in. So I thought well what the hell and just did mine up to how I like it. I have a few more mods left. I just chalk it up to a lesson learned. (I blame the salesman for not pushing me into a GTS) I still love my GT, F/I is a possibility in the future but I'll probably just keep it as is, add some more mods & in the future trade it in or give it to my kid.

If all you want is more power, You can make your GT as powerful as a GTs by just changing several parts.

Get an Intake, a header, an exhaust, a crank pulley, an altenator pulley, a flywheel, an ignition system, and a ECU system.

You will have a GT that is faster than a GTs for much less than the trading in cost.

And then you can do more things to it... like porting the head

Besides, if you want to get forced induction, the GT is a better base because the compression ratio is lower.

i think the GTS is pretty powerful concidering it's a 4-cylinder... if it helps any... my dad test drove a GT.. said it was a "nice car" but wasn't really impressed with it... then i got my GTS.. and it was hard to get him away from it... he likes the lift... plus the styling of the GTS is better than the wrx or the SRT-4... in my opinion anyways... so i agree with ArumnDark... if you like the styling of the celica.. sell your GT and then buy a GTS

by the way... I LOVE my GTS... and wouldn't trade it for anything...
