I'm thinking about replacing my stock hood with a Carbon Fiber hood. Do I need to get hood pins or not? How important are they and what are pros/cons? How difficult are they to install? wave

Thanx.

yes, get them hood pins, you don't want to have your nice new c/f hood flip up to your windshield while you doing 80mph down the interstate...

plus there is a difference between an entire metal piece (with welding)... and a single metal hook attached to a large fiberglass piece using bondo to attach the two.

metal welding is much stronger than fiberglass & bondo

I got hood pins after a friend of mine brought his Celica over and showed me a huge crack in his windshield from his hood flying up, doing only 30 mph... It's worth it after spending that much $$$ on a hood. thumbsup

I was wondering the same thing because the used Carbon Fiber hood I bought was on a car and she didn't have hood pins.
If it has been discussed before, us new guys wouldn't know. So we need to ask.

I actually don't see anyone criticizing me... and if there are those that do, they don't do it to my face

Moving on... I've rewritten the HOODPINS INSTALL GUIDE with much more detail and several more pictures - for those who would like to tackle the installation on their own thumbsup

anyone who criticizes isaac is a freakin DUMBASS... this is the best celica website around... if you cant do a simple thing like search for a simple topic as this one your a bigger dumbass...

there are thousands of members to this site and a lot more would back up isaac then just about any other member... so again i say you are a dumbass if you criticize someone as knowledgable as isaac and also powerful enough to kick your ass off the website...

(i wouldnt want to get on bad terms with him or anyone else for that matter who is a fellow member of this website)

On this ebay item it says it doesn't need the hood pins...

Are hood pins just a recommendation?

yes, a very very highly remcommend item though when a hood is purchased... like they said the aftermarket hood usually latches on to the stock latch but sometimes wont be stong enough so hoodpins are highly recommended!

i would get them anyway... my friend was doing burnouts... and his stock hood flew up and hit his windshield... (after he took off of course) but anyway... they're just a safety feature you're gonna want to have... unless you're a pokey driver... then i guess it would be okay.. haha
