How hard is it to install an aftermarket stereo? I'm guessing you remove the center console, unplug the old stereo, plug in a new wiring harness, then plug in the new stereo. Am I missing something?

BTW I've already taken my stock stereo out...there's two wiring harnesses and a power cable. I don't see how it can get any more complicated...am I wrong?

That's pretty much it. Assuming you get the wiring harness, the hardest part would be matching up all the wiring so that the plug on one in can plug into the stock plug and the other end plugs into the new head unit. Easy job.

lucky for you, you own a GT so yup, it's that simple. UNLESS you purchased the JBL audio upgrade. In which case you will need to bypass the factory amp.

It's not ALWAYS as simple as just taking it out and plugging it in. But in your case, yes, yes it is.

I just installed a new headunit this evening. It's extremely easy. The hardest, most time consuming part is splicing the wires for the new headunit to the wiring harness, and that would probably be a breeze with a good crimping tool; my crimping tool is pretty cheap.

Take off the upper console (four philips screws), unbolt the stock radio (four hex head screws), and it pulls right out. Take the brackets of the stock radio and put them on the new one, connect the wiring harness, and reassemble. Piece of cake!

Here's mine:
