After my dome light bulb blew out, i went to kragen and got a new bulb but its never been as bright. I recently test drove the new RL and that thing has secondary dome lights that are blue LEDs (stay on the whole time but not that bright) so i wanted to use four white LEDs in place of our stock bulb. anyone know how to do this? since our stock bulb uses 12v can i use 4 LEDs since they take about 3v each? thanks

there are two types of dome light bulbs
one for celica with sunroof
one for celica without...

the one with a sunroof is just a bulb that is connected with one side, while the other connects on both sides.

went and got 2 LEDs (all they had) then burned them out cause i gave them too much voltage. I'm pretty sure if I connected four together and maybe used a resistor to lower the voltage/amps it could work .

kim i asked a guy at work today thats an electrical engineer... he said that he needs more information...

so do you want 2 or 4 leds? what are the specs of the LED's you bought?... amperage, voltage, resistance (ohms)?

Morris: i don't think it'll be worth it to buy a new bulb from autobacs since it won't be that much brighter and they over charge.

Spaztkid: the dome voltage output is 12V, and each white LED takes 3.6V, 20 amps not sure about ohms. so i'm guessing is i were to solder 4 together it will work properly and the whole cabin should be extremely well lit.

solder the 4 LEDs in parallel and all in series with a resistor.

since you dont have the ohm about the LED... im not sure wut size resistor you should use... spineyes

as long as you can get a resistor to limit the voltage to around 3.6V, you will be fine. and all 4 LED will receive around 3.6V since they are in parallel.

PM me if you got the ohm of the LEDs.

basically it will work if you wire 4 leds in series or paralell...

it is easier to do it paralel and safer for the LED's in this case...

running the LED's in series with 12 volts your gonna be putting about 16.6 amps through the LED's... and sinse they're rated at 20 amps you will be fine...

good luck... lemme know if its bright thumbsup

I'm shure the Blue rubber covers may absorb heat - shortening the life of the bulb. This sight is where the guys at work get their LEDs. I'm getting them.

This link has all the celica's bulbs in LEDs insted of incandesent. They also have load resistors to help keep relays happy!

Here you go Cheap LEDs [lsdiodes.com] I've ordered from the before and the LEDs are bright. The shipping was pretty quick aslo I think 2-3 days.
