toyota Celica articles!

So the Celica finishes last in most of the straight-line acceleration tests. Yet the losing margin is narrow. And as with F-15s, battle lines are seldom straight. For all contests involving braking and turning, the GTS wins big. It stops from 70 mph in only 166 feet, has the best grip on the skidpad at 0.88 g, and figuratively smoked all the others through the lane-change test at 74.3 mph. The next-best Acura managed only 71.7 mph.

Toyota Celica GTS
The Celica looks ready to take on all comers. Backing the sheetmetal is a 180-hp 1.8-liter Four. Like the Acura, the Celica boasts intelligent variable valve timing. Unlike the Acura, power delivery is peaky. And the car has only 130 ft.-lb. of torque to work with. Being the lightest in the group has a distinct advantage when the roads twist. The Celica was second to only the Evo through our slalom course, it generated 0.89 g's on the skidpad and delivered the third-best fuel economy.

driving a celica around i nearly forgot how well our cars turn in so fast compared to other cars in it's class..."second to an evo though a slalom course"?...it's that kinda stuff that makes you appreciate what you have.

and that's a stock GTS, and of course the other cars are stock too. But look at what is possible with the Hotchkis GTS...that has a long kill list of many cars including RWD.

I get my kicks on EC.

I love the tight cornering of the Celi.

There is turn on my way to work, every single day, there is always a guy trying to rev. the hell out of me getting into the corner. It is a really long straightaways before the turn. They would usually drive really fast and I'll just be a car length behind them, giving them room and making them think that they are all speedy. Once the twisty starts, this is where the Celi shines. By the end of the twistys, they are about 4 car lengths behind me thumbsup
