Defrost/AC LED swap + cup holder illumination

changed the rear defrost/ac LED's to a blue...came out really nice, i like it

and i also put an LED in my cup holder, the pics don't take the whole effect because my camera blows, but it came out really good...i think i want to find a brighter one though, it does light it up, but i would like it to light it up more.

oh and i made red door inserts with the help of TimO...forgot to get a pic though

yea the pics really really suck
the LED's are blue now instead of amber for the ac and rear defrost when they are turned on...it looks much better because i wanted to do this
and the led in the cup holder is really sweet, but you can only see it lit in the pic frown

I am swapping all my bulbs out for the center console...got bulbs for the HVAC and cig lighter, i'm waiting for them to come in..
got LED's for the radio and driver window button also, they come in dec 1st...
then i redo my gauges
and i'm goin out today to test out another LED for the cupholder and if it'snot brighter, i'm going to put two of them in, one on the other side also. you'll see.

sorry didn't take pics, it is so simple that common sense can do it...

all you do is look at the two old led's and unsolder the back of them and pull em out
then take the new LED, stick it through the holes with the anode (longer side) into positve and the other into negative (cathode and the circuit board has markings for positive and negative, if not, hold the led in both directions till it lights up)
cut the two stems shorted and solder it back on...
test to see if it is lit...then you will seee on the black piece that holds the defrost and ac button where the old LED slid into..it was a rectangular hole...well i cut the one side of the little hole off and then cut a nub of the other side of the hole so the bottom of the LED will fit...once you take it apart, you will see what i am talking about..common sense will help.

and i'm putting another LED on the other side of the cup holder for better illumination.

That cupholder idea is money. Considering how easy it should be to find them at night I'm always fumbling around with cups.

yea, i was lookin for other ways to make it brighter, but the two i'll have in will be plenty bright...you could get a LED holder and one LED with a certain brightness, shade, and how much it lights up, but then you have to figure out how to do a resister because you can't have 12V goin to it..

tomorrow, i am going to install the second LED, then connect them to a switch and put that somewhere, so i can turn them off and on for more convienence.

Now you need to light your climate controls up like mine, or do it a blue color.

But red with those blue LED's would look very nice.

its melting solder (a low melting point metal sold as a coil of wire) on to other metal components so that it bonds them together when it hardens. It also allows for the flow of electricity
