rub in what??? I thought people would be PROUD of this!

I know that Lotus certainly is very proud of it - the engine was clearly stamped on top with "TOYOTA" and the very first thing in the Elise' brochure is "ENGINE: Toyota Supplied, 4 cylinder DOHC 4 valve per cylinder with variable timing and lift"

Im sure that if you owne a Celica GTS, you would be happy to pount out to your friends when talking about your car, "I have the same mechanical engine in my Celica that is also used in the Lotus Elise" (the tuning is different though)

i'm not liking the red one with the top on. the yellow looks a little better, but i prefer the MR-S.

Hi Isaac,

Do you know what the diffrence is then between the two? There is no way it could be identical, I'm wondering how I could turn my GTS into the higher output. Very cool, I'm proud that it has the GTS Engine. The Celica is still much better looking, no comparison on that level. thumbsup

Lotus engineers slightly tweaked the engine and allows it to produce an additional 10 hp. They also worked a bit with the fuel pressure or something like that to allow the engine to operate more frequently at higher rpms.

i'm not isaac but hey...the elise is RWD. the engine is located on the rear for better weight ration. it's also at least 500lbs less than a GTS. ecu needs to be retunred for the output of 190hp, and the intake system is a bit different. it's going to cost you a bundle just to do those...

Do you see Yamaha using that exact same engine in any of it's products wave

Looking at the engine from above, it looks almost exactly like GTS engine, except in the rear of the vehicle tongue

Those cars can move. I sat in one. The door sils are high so it makes for diffcult entering/exiting of the vehicle.
