hi i own an 04 GTS and am interested in getting an RMM front upper strut bar but the company is saying that the 04 celicas are different so they havnt made one to fit the car. They are saying that the battery placement has changed so there bars will only fit the 2000-2003 models because of the battery hold down. Does anyone know if this is true? and does anyone own an RMM bar on a 2004? If so let me know..if not i was wondering if anyone knows if the tanabe bars are pretty good? thanks

for strut bars ...speaking from owning 3 different ones and researching various ones.. i say.. Go for RMM if the battery tie down is the only thing of concern then you could just get a hypermotive tie down bar http://www.hypermotive.net/celbatt.htm or APR nicely priced as compared to rmm.. https://celicahobby.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=26&products_id=124<-- Carbing (pic in profile) would be nice but good luck finding one tanabe people seem to like it but in terms of support i'd say it has a lot more chance of flex due to it being a 3 part bar and also welds also can flex.. so that adds to less of a firmer bar in comparison to others

if i were to get an RMM strut bar and just use the stock battery hold down instead of the one given with the bar, do you know if it will fit?

no it is not welded and i haven't heard of it not fitting since the RMM comes with a battery hold down. take a pic of the 04 engine bay.

and as Billy said neither battery tie down is welded to the bar I'd think that if you just used the stock tie down bar it would fit.. besides some people have the tanabe and use their stock battery tie down bar since Tanabe doesn't come with a battery tie down bar.. yeah someone take a pic of their '04 engine bay around the strut/battery area

If it odenst fit i am oging to ake out th eplasic thing holding the battery. Make sure you move the battery connectors to the sides instead of facing to the inside of the car and you will have to cut a little part of the battery tie down. The battery tie down has two screws on the top and I Chopped the screw nearst the driver in half to fit the MR. It was no big deal, looks great, and performs good to.

Where in the Hell is the throttle cable located on a 2004 GTS? Anyone know? 2003+ is drive-by-wire, meaning to throttle cable to tighten... and is the Hypermotive strut bar any good? How does it compare with other strut bars in terms of restricting hood scoop airflow?

Hotchkiss makes one with camber adjustability but its like 400 bucks! Ouch!

... and is the Hypermotive strut bar any good? How does it compare with other strut bars in terms of restricting hood scoop airflow? Hypermotive strut bar has a nice "bling" factor to it.. and nice design in terms of still allowing hood scoop air flow... BUT... It's also one of the worse in terms of Stiffness... there have been some mention of being able to actually twist the bar itself with your own strengh.. but if you just care about looks and airflow then it works nice.. stiffness and price
