So I finally got a set of TRD struts to go with my TRD springs, now I just need to get them installed.

When I asked the Toyota parts guy about getting them installed there at the dealership he said yeah I could do that but they would set the suspension to the stock factory settings, but if I really wanted to get the full performance potential out of my struts and springs I should take have them installed by his friend at a local alignment shop because they could tune my suspension for maximum performance, because his friends shop has experience setting up suspension systems for race and police cars.

Question is:

Should I just go with the factory suspension settings or have it tuned by this shop?

My Celica is my daily driver, but conditions permitting (i.e. nobody around) I do enjoy spirited driving and aggressive cornering.

Any voices of experience or informed opinions on this?

Yes; particularly toe, camber, and caster settings. Which can apparently be tuned to meet specific needs:

A little bit of negative camber is OK for better handling. The rest should be factory spec.

Sounds like this guy is trying to scam you. To set up camber you will need a camber kit. although with a trd setup you shouldnt need camber adjustment. other than that they can give you an alignment wich you probably wont need. I put on 2.25 front and 2.5 rear drop springs and I dont need an alignment. I could use a camber kit but Im not going to worry about that untill i get Rims/Tires.

You dont have coilovers so they cant adjust your ride hight, that will always be the same. If you bought adjustable Struts then they could set your stiffness to a more stock feal. That you can adjust yourself.

My opinion is the guy is trying to get his friend some buisness by scammin you
