I'm thinking about getting some gauges for a pillar mount job...for the celica do we need to get mechanical gauges or electronic gauges...

Definitely get electronic. Mechanical gauges have the sensor inside the gauge itself, meaning you'd have to run oil and coolant lines into the interior, and that's not really the safest thing to do (imagine if a line bursts ). Electrical ones use a sender mounted at the source, and just run wires into the interior to the gauges.

Only drawback about electrical gauges is that they may not be as accurate as mechanical ones. This may be the reason that people say their lift kicks in at different points than other people. But a good electrical gauge can be just as accurate as a mechanical one.
