i may be wrong on this but

same as any other unless there low profile tires, if there low profile i think you would still be changing it as often as regular tires because its not like people run there stock size tires down alll they way to the rim and then change it, they always change it when some of the grip is wearing away

although if it was some kind of a race of who gets the furthest without there tires ripping stock size would obviously win because it has so much more on the sides compared to low profile

i hope this makes sense

this pic explains some stuff [Linked Image from imagestation.com]

if you notice the profile on the tire isnt too low so it will last as long as regular tires on stock rims

by the way this car belongs too itchyvi3t

It all depends on your tire ware rating. Also, your tires will last longer as long as you keep rotating them properly and keep everything aligned.

any tire that has a high speed rating will wear out fast, almost all tires that have a lower than 50 aspect ratio are "z"(149mph +) rated, but the kuhmo's are not z speed rated, and have a treadwear rating of 320, while most z rated tires are like 160

The wear of the tire depends mostly of the compound of the rubber.

and the high speed rated tires will last shorter, because it is a softer compound in order to attain the rating, my bike wears 180/55zr17 and it's rear tire needs replaced after 4,000 miles or so

all depends on how you drive and what kind of tires you have...wheels don't have anything to do with the wear.

17's if you think you are going to race at any time or don't want to spend as much or if you want a smoother ride...
18's for the better look and the ride will be a little more harsh than with 17's
I am going to get 18's...I was going to get 17's but decided to go more show...

Falken, Yokohama, Hankook, BF Goodrich, Nitto, Pirelli are all pretty good tires

just remember that the bigger your rims are, the heavyer thay are. also when you add larger tires you effectively make the gearing taller.

I agree the amount of driving depends on your tire wear at most also if you're looking for race, speed, show.

It's different with different tires and wheels.
Do the normal checks and have proper tire specs on the wheel. What are the speed ratings, size, width, pressure, diameter, capacity load.

Maintain them normally
1. Rotate, Balance, Torque wheels all appropriately
2. Air Pressure
3. Alignment
4. Valve stems, Race stems, Etc...
5. Visual, Touch, Hearing

Just watch them normally if the tread on the inner wall is torn or looks shredded then it's no good. You can do the "nickel or penny check" and to meausre the thread loss to see how much you loose in a certain amount of time. Once you have them on the car you'll tend to know when you need to change tires if you do the normal maintenance and checks. It all depends on your driving and how often you do some of these things.

Here are some sizes i'd prefer remember depends on the rim as well 1,2,3 piece rims, weight, etc.
18x7.5
18x8.0 These sizes should be fine that would be the largest & widest i'd go on a stock Celica. Suspension mods will help a whole lot and tires will be based on your preference since they're are to many to choose from with so many different specs. Every maker promises different things do some looking around match a couple to see what fits your preference.
