I've read on other threads that they just twist out, but they are not coming out.

I've noticed that the bulbs that the bulbs are connected to a gray base.

Are the bulbs connected to the gray base as one piece?, or do the bulbs twist out of the gray base?

The bulbs do twist out. But, be careful, the bulbs are attached to a small circuit board. This board can crack easily.

It can just be pulled out, but be very careful with it. I also think that there are 2 gold screws you need to remove first

the blue bulbs suck! don't try to do that, mine cam out gree. there was a thread on here a while back about installing a curved neon tube instead. i did that, and it looks great. it is one of those stereo accent tubes, but it has a arc to it... im not sure where i got the info, but search for it!
