I have been to a few different websites and see a typical dyno test of a celica gt at about 122 horsepower at the wheels. On my 2000 celica gt 5sp I have the following mods. Aem CAI, Borla exhaust, Hotshot racing header, Jet performance chip. I should have a conservative horsepower gain of about 25. However I have had mine dyno'd recently and It came up with 128.9 at the wheels (in fourt gear) and 112 for torque. What gives, do celicas not respond to mods very well? Every mod says it would give me from 8-12 horsepower at the wheels. Is this not correct? Also my car has about 50k on it and has not been ran hard.

You should try all gears. My strongest gear is 2nd-3rd. 4th just goes downhill for me. How did they do the dyno on your car?

They ran through the first few gears pretty quick and then held it in fourth till redline. I don't know a lot about dyno's but when people come back with all these figures are all cars being ran in the same gear? Or somebody did it in 3rd and another in fourth etc..

I have the same result. It also depends on weather conditions. It is hot here in TX, so I am waiting till it cools down for my next test. I have I/H/E and dynoed at like 124 hp and 114 tq.

Now the only really interesting thing that I noticed is that my peak horsepower is at 7000.00rpm exactly and my peak torque is at 4400.00 with very little drop off at redline.

did you dyno your car after each mod? Did you install the mods at aeparate times? If so, I would like to know the gains of the JET ship.

I did the AEM CAI and the Borla Exhaust at the same time. It did feel quicker than before. I then did the header, I lost a little power before 3000 rpm but when it hit about 4500 I noticed a big increase in power. I then had the jet chip installed and got all low end back plus more usable power throughout the entire rpm range. This is was stumps me, after all these mods I do have much better accelaration but I just figured I would have gotten a better dyno score. Also I'll throw in that I have a B&M ss. This helped reaction time...duh.

no judgement on the errors. I know that after I got the header, my 2nd and 3rd gears are mean as hell. Do you think that for some reason we may have more hp/tq in those hears than in 4th?

I'm sure that we do put more down in earlier gears. Maybe I should have just dyno'd mine in first.

Does anyone else have a similar story of putting on mods and not getting a major change in dyno tested power?
