well as some of you know my car was vandalized at school and had about $3000 worth of damage. I have a security system now stock Toyota thing. I'm going ot buy a new security system that has the 2 way pager. I really dont want to spend over $500. Can you guys give me some names of security systems that meet my requirements? I want it to be very picky...(siren will go off on anything.) And by 2 way pager i mean the ones that alert you if the hood, trunk, door ect has been touch. It doesn't have to have remote start but if it does it has to be compatible with my 5 speed. Thanks for the help. If you have a link or pictures go ahead and post them!

I have a viper alarm... its pretty awsome, i would highly reccomend them. tons of options aviable and cost is pretty dependent on how in depth you go with the sensors...I would reccomend getting it installed at a car audio shop( not best buy) ir do it yourself... it is important to hide everything really well, and best buy type places just dont do that great a job(in my opinion) The alarm is only going to be as good as the install... done wrong and it can be useless.

I have the viper 2-way pager alarm - 690XV (no remote start) and I don't like it. It works but only up close (like 200 feet). The range is really the only issue I have with it.

I would go with the Compustar SS. From what I have heard that thing has a mile and a quarter range since it uses Mil-spec spread spectrum technology (hence the SS).

Viper does have the GPS option but that's like $1000, and then there's a monthly fee that's not too much. Now that system obviously has a MUCH longer range than a mile and a quarter hehe. You can have it so you get a call on your cell phone (assuming you have service) if your alarm detects anything.

and since the range is so bad on the viper 2-way it's useless unless you're in your house and the stereo is blasting but you feel the vibration in your pocket (if it's on vibrate mode). Or it could help in a grocery store etc if you park close to the entrance. I've tried it in movie theaters and it's too far or the walls are too thick for any transmission. When I have to walk a distance from where I park, I only use it to see if I remembered to set my alarm. That's one benefit of the LCD screen.

if you have a Team Electronics where you live go there. theres a computech 2 way pager with the little screen thingy. 360 bucks with install i believe. i got an alarm 3 weeks ago but i opted for the more bacic unit (same system with standard remotes and it was 230 with install) theres a lifetime warranty and all that good stuff i think it would be worth it

Get the paging system and also make sure you get one that has an engine start option on it.

I have the Clifford Two way. It works wonderful. I was shopping one evening and it told me that my trunk had been opened so i called the cops ran out and caught some ass in my trunk tryin to steal my system. Between my gf and i we were able to squish him in the trunk till the cops came. You should have seen the looks on thier faces when i opened the trunk rofl

had to get up and check the box in my bedroom. actually i have a compustar 2-way. i think my range is like a quarter mile.

it works, but my sensitivity is set up really high, fart can hondas like a block away set off my sensor, motor cycles and heavy vibrations from trucks sets of the alarm.

i'm iffy on the pager though. sometimes i'll be looking right at my sensor going off or something, and i get no page. other times trying to shut the alarm off, the button takes multiple attempts.

2WFM-A is what i have. paid under $400 for the unit and install. address: www.compustar.org [compustar.org]
