sometimes quality overrides quantity... I haven't heard these in person but hopefully they provide clean bass instead of a bunch of really loud rattling

I'm not going to venture a guess as to how many watts it would take to shatter the rear hatch, however imo one 12" 1000 watt sub is more than sufficient for even the most avid bass fanatic. Anything more is excessive but if that's what you're going for then be prepared for repercussions - wink

Audiobahn doesn't fuck around. They have a 5000W rack mounted amp. They have/had a 32" sub!

Had a frontset + 2 12" subs from audiobahn a while back. GREAT sound! Love audiobahn!!

Well Cerwin-Vega makes great home audio products but in recent years their car audio hasn't done so hot. The strokers are their only decent subwoofer.

What Audiobahn's problem is they put too much time into making their subs look good and not into how they sounds. Rockford subs were good back in the early to mid 90's but the current ones aren't as great. Nice but not great. Diamond makes a good sub and Memphis has some nice ones too. Alpine and JL make great SQ subs.

Thats a poor excuse for a sound quality sub... let me know if you want real subs...

If you do want to waste your money, you need to sacrifice your entire trunk for a new box, a new alternator, atleast 1 12v batt in the back(you could get some modified amps to run 16 but if your not a pro, dont). To run 4000wrms it takes a a lot more then just shit you can buy at best buy...

I agree...it is a poor excuse. You will need to have an extra battery. I had one extra one with my JL Audio 1000/1 and my lights dimmed all the time. Audiobahn is junk so dont waste your money. UncleBen is right. You will have no trunk when your done. Plan and simple. Don't get audiobahn.

If you treat you electrical system right you wont need a Capacitor... My suggest do some homework, you'll be loud with your 4000wrms but I can spend less and be louder with less wattage...wattage doesnt me anything, espically the ratings on subwoofers, they're just guidlines...

Agreed. You don't need even close to that much power to listen to your music. This is sound competition levels. Its 2000 RMS per sub and no, bass will not blow out your back window. Only high frequencies will shatter your glass. It has to do with atoms and resonant properties. If you ask, you get a long explanation. The resistance on these are so low! Be careful, thats how equipment burns out so fast.

Reprecussions - Loss of hearing and/or DTP violation.

You're gonna need a full farad cap, 4 gauge wiring (maybe 2, thats a lot of power). Don't even think of listening to your stereo with the car off without getting an Optima battery. For optimum clarity and kick, get a ground wire kit (if you don't have one already) and a voltage stabilizer, like a Sun Automotive Hyper Ground.

Ppl say a lot about the best subs. I take my information from CA&E magazine. "JL Audio 12w6v2 is the most linear subwoofer and best sounding subwoofer they've ever tested...PERIOD." Trust the experts, they know a lot about sound quality. You're looking for volume, so if you want your Audiobahn, go for it. I just hope the subs don't deteriorate as most do at high volumes. When you buy a sub, what you're paying for is the quality and construction of materials it was made from. You get what you pay for. thumbsup

What a waste of a sub ... the celica can no where near handle that type of power that the sub requires.

Even with a cap and battery, the alternator will easily die.

If you want a loud car get an SPL sub. I read where 1 18 hit a 165db.

What, exactly, do you plan to power those with?

You're going to need what... 4-6 1000 watt amps to reach the full potential of the speakers? You're going to need to upgrade the entire electrical system. Then you have to worry about what you'll do to balance the highs with all that bass... otherwise you won't even hear anything close to "music".

All this just to be XXXtreme?

when you got to comp's they judge Bass, and then they judge sound 2 differnt catagories.

i want to go for bass. i can always shut of the subs off and just use em for comp or show off.

no i wont need 4 - 6 amps i can run 2 amp that is at most

2x LA Sound CAD 3000 3000W Max Class D Amplifier
2x 12' Sub
1x 1 Cap
1x 4 gauge Amp Wire
2x battery
1x Alternator
total eek

alright, its not even funny anymore, please remove your head from your ass and listen.

You cannot run more than 1000watts off of 4 awg wire, let alone 4kw. LA Sound amps will produce if your lucky 1200 wrms if that, even less if you decide to run 4 awg. Adding batteries and a new alternator isnt just that simple, you have to first determine how you want you car to be setup. If you doing db drag then you'll a few batteries and a good sized aftermarket alternator, other organizations have different rules concerning car on/off, but to even get nearly as much power as you think you want, you'll need a 200amp alternator or more, and 2 12v in the back. And you'll need some kind of regulation for all this. Some alternators come with a built in regulator but chances are you'll need so other type of regulation. If you do this right no capacitor is necessary. Essentially a capacitor is for people who want higher powered daily driving systems but stock electrical, if you upgrade you electrical system for competition use, a capactior is not needed.

Lastly, you can not put those subs in a any prefabricated box, so I hope your good with wood working. Sorry to say it but way to new to car audio to attempt a system of this caliber. I suggest you read up before you do anything or you'll regret it in the long run.
