The blue plug doesn't get connected to anything, and the hose coming off the intake manifold gets plugged up.

sorry where does the hose go? i left it unconnected (just to engine block other end unconnected)

The hose should be removed, and the hole in the intake manifold needs to be plugged with a vacuum cap. If you don't have the cap, you need to put a screw into the hose. If the hose is left open, it could lead to a CEL.

Pep Boys and Autozone sell them, but if you got a name brand intake, it should've come with one included.
