torque it 'til it breaks the wheel stud than use that for reference. then replace the stud and then torque the rest at one less ft/lb of torque.

anyone know why it suggests 32psi for the gts and 29 for the gt when they're basically the same car?

although a lot of shops use impact wrenches to tighten lug nuts, I wouldn't do it. It's fast that's why they do it. And the ones the NASCAR guys use are all precalibrated for that car. using standard impact wrenches can make the lug nuts undertightened and/or inconsistent with each other. I have to know for sure and be dead on, and in that case a torque wrench still with accurate calibration is what I use.

I use my impact to the same settings on all the wheels to get them on and going, then you finish it off with a standard bar. After driving a mile, use the torque wrench to get it right after the lugs have settled

that's right. most shops have their wrenches set at a certain torque. i always hand tighten them, run the gun, then torque them down.

They also drive a hell of a lot faster than any Celica could go, not to mention the weight of their wheels/tires would also add an increase of force pushing off the car when operating at a high speed.

Impact wrenches will do.

no kidding about NASCAR.

sure, it's fine if you have the kind where you can dial in the exact amount of torque. But I'm saying if you have the cheaper kind that doesn't allow adjustment, you won't know for sure it's torqued just right to specs.
