I am getting the TRD SC soon. For the corolla and matrix they suggest using denso iridium ik20 spark plugs. Is this what I would use? I also heard people talking about the ik22's.

I also heard people talking about the ik22's. colder plugs=less power (higher number = colder plug) BUT colder plugs = less detonation = avoiding a blown engine. If you decide to upgrade the pully and run more boost later on the colder plugs will help to avoid detonation.

^^I did not know that. I thought the larger numbers gave more current. Great info! Probably upgrade my plugs for better performance. New ignition wires and solenoid, too. Nology, probably. Not for a while.

Not for a while. what is meant by hotter/colder is the effect the plugs have in the combustion chambers by their ability to dissipate heat. so hotter means less heat dissipation, and colder means more heat dissipation. more heat/pressure = TENDENCY toward more detonation. When you say I upgrade I hope you mean with a turbo, and by upgrade you would then mean colder plugs, right? If you are going to stay N/A, do not "upgrade" by going to hotter plugs. Unless you plan on running 100 octane on the street, etc to decrease the increased risk of detonation.
I get my kicks on EC.
