I was at a show a couple of days a go and saw a lowered celica, I have always wanted to get lowering springs for my 2000 gt so i asked him what he used, he said that he just cut the springs!!!! I asked which springs? He said the stock ones! Has anyone else done this because im a little shakey on this idea...

Yes, please dont do that. That is so ghetto. It will ruin your handling. Nowadays you can buy some decent springs for like $140 shipped or less, why would you cut your springs.

Ok, that is not entirely true. If you cut them TOO short it will fuck a lot of things up. However, as far as destroying handling...cutting springs can help A TON! There is a 1995 Mustang 5.0 that runs AutoX here in Idaho. With his stock springs he handled like shit...TONS ofd body roll. Then he cut the springs on that and it fixed nearly ALL of his handling problems. In reality, it is a pretty good idea in some scenarios. You keep the same spring rate, but you have shorter springs. In my opinion it is FAR better than heating and compressing.

I've already seen some shows on TV about building a car for drifting and they cut the springs a little to lower it a little more...but yea i would definitely assume it would be a dumb idea to cut your springs a lot.

Boing boing. Be sure to put on your unpainted body kit and if you have a pair of mismatched rims, that would do nicely also. grin

Oh. and some washer LED's while you're at it. LOL don't cut them. & try to convince that retard to sell his celica & get a civic.

A guy I knew had cut his springs, which really fucks up the handling. He lost control of his car in an emergency lane change on the freeway and wrapped his car around a light pole.

do not cut your springs unless you want DEATH
