this is such a newbie question but is it possible to add a subwoofer with the stock radio (2004 celica gts) or do i have to buy a new head unit. and does anybody know where i can find the installation guide for that?

yeah you can use the stock radio...

just get the signal from your rear speakers...

it wont sound as good as if you got a deck though.

there is no guide that i know of... all you do is tap into the speaker wires of the stock speakers and you know have speaker input which will probably need to be converted into rca compatible output.. its not worth it.. sucks in quality thumbsdown

You're going to need an amp to power a sub or it won't do shit.
You can hook an amp to the stoch head unit though. When I took my stock deck out, I put in my Hummer at work with an amp and 2 10's. Sounded good. Only pounding Hummer in the Army that I have seen.

get an aftermarket deck. It will sound a lot better and a sub is much easier to set up. thumbsup

It will work but its not recomended. Just spend the extra money and get a deck but make sure you get one with subwoofer controls. So you can turn the bass down on front speakers and turn up the bass on the subwoofer.
