Need Your Opinons on 3SGTE Swap

Alright, some of you might know the current project that im in, FF GT Widebody!! Well, i was going to go turbo at the same time to finish off what i wanted to do completely, but now i have a new option. I have a way to get a 3sgte engine with 70,000 miles on it, but it comes with everything, tranny, turbo, intercooler, wire harness, you name it, it comes with it, and its only for 1000, only problem is that its the AWD tranny, but i also have an oppotunity with this deal to get a FWD tranny, 6 speed, that matches up to the 3sgte, wont give away any more info and total its gonna be 2000!! My question is, should i do it!! I know that if i do get it, im gonna invest in new internals, different piping and new intercooler, exhaust, etc etc. Espeically a new turbo, bigger, but with the money thats involved to fit in a bigger engine, should i do my Turbo path on the 1zz-fe or take it to the next level and get the 3sgte, any help is welcome, trying to make a decision!!

I say get the 3rd gen 3S-GTE, stock 245hp, you cant go wrong with that. you dont even need to build it up (unless your gonna go crazy show car/drag car or something) keep stock internals, electronic boost controller, turbo timer, FMIC, bov, downpipe, exhaust, apexi power fc or other ecu, and tuning, and your pretty much set for the streets.

That engine will DESTROY your weight distribution. Your car will have so much oversteer it will be rediculous. However, in a strait line, it should do VERY well! Just don't plan on Auto X!!! thumbsup

I did the 3S Swap in a 1990 GTS and the car came to life. Just know that getting that engine in there is going to be a task. It was easy for me because all my engine mounts bolted up and the engine bolted up to me stock S-53 tranny. All wheel drive would be a nice improvement but if you don't want to do all that work, you could go with just front wheel drive. If you do go FWD then I would also suggest a MR2 LSD tranny to keep the wheels locked up. Either way, it will be a chore, but sweet none the less.

how come everyone thinks you can just bolt a 3S-GTE under the Hood. there is a lot of custom fabrication that is involved and you need to find some one who is willing to do it and you need the funds to so it rice rice rice go 3SGTE go rolleyes rolleyes rolleyes

If you want fast cars then I suggest to go trade-in your car and get a car that is built for that. Swapping a 3SGTE will cost you a forture. I would say $10-13000 or more. Not to mention all other upgrades that are need in other for your car to handle the power. Plus problems problems problems... will always be there along the road.

Im not really worried about the money, i have that to back it up, i jsut want something diferent and unique, thats the only reason why i have so many ideas and options, the onl other thing that i can think of is to keep the 1zz and change internals, all, ie, even going with 2.0 kit,...

would the mr2 tanny hold up to 400 hp, roughly, and does it bolt right up to the engine or would some work be requried, and what year tranny is that??
