Getting my AEM CAI tomorrow. What's everything I need?

I've never installed an Intake before. If I follow the directions I should be able to install it though. I will have a friend with me to. Anyways, what are all the tools I will need? And how long will it take to install?

Thanks.

Socket wrench, screwdriver, and a box cutter or some strong scissors. The install is a piece of cake. smile You might also wanna get some throttle body cleaner since it will be fully exposed during the install process.

Yeah piece of cake for you, but not for a guy who has no idea what he is doing. smile Hopefully the instructions are good enough. Why do I need box cutters? What do I have to cut? Also, what is a good throttle body cleaner to get?

you have to cut the underbody plastic to fit the pipe by the wheel well.

yea you just have to cut a small corner of the plastic, not all of it. I used a box razer blade. Wasnt too hard. If you cut too much, youll expose the wheels.

dude i installed it WITHOUT instructions. that's how easy it is. the only mistake i made was not putting in the right sensor which caused a CEL. but after i fixed that i have been CEL free...it's so straight foward. don't get intimidated by all the parts. it's only a little harder than plugging your DVD,VCR,cable box, and TV together...it's just all common sense stuff.

It helps to take the bumper off. Much more room to work with.

no. but it helps. it took me 1.5 hours with the bumper on...and no instructions. it may take you a lot less with the bumper off WITH instructions. thumbsup

Damn I was sitting here waiting for my package, and the mailman passes right by my house without stopping (meaning my Intake didn't come today). I thought it would be here today because isaac said it was shipped friday and its been 4 days and I live about 3 hours away from where isaac is. frown

you dont have to take the front bumper off, however, i would recommend it. Its very easy to take off and it saves a lot of time. You take off the skid plate clips underneath the front end and then open up your doors and there is one screw on each side there and then you unclip the wheelwell clips and there is one bolt on each side in there. Then you pull each corner away gently (but with force) one at a time and it just comes off. it takes about 15 minutes to do.

Yeah, USPS is pretty slow to update their tracking numbers. First time I ordered something with USPS shipping, I was like WTF cause it took so long to get into their system, and it's been that slow ever since.

UPS tracking number will get into their system during end of day transaction. Means if you ship it today tracking number will show no details until the next day. This will send all info to the UPS database updating it's shipping record. From there it will be a point to point update as to where your package is and what time it arrive or left there. rofl

LOL. rofl

You guys are making it sound like it is really, really easy. But I think most of you have had experience with this stuff. What about me who doesn't know the first thing about removing the stock parts and putting in an Intake. I'm clueless. Are the instructions really that good that they will get me through it? Do they also tell you how to remove the old Intake (or air box? I dunno what its called)?

you're making it seem like it's hard. it really isn't. just read the instructions...it's VCR/TV plug and play. literaly a monkey can do it.

Yeah true. Maybe making it seem like its hard will make it super easy when I do it. grin

Also, what are MAF's and how do I clean them?

Your MAFS is the black box that gets mounted onto the Intake. You clean it by spraying its insides with non chlorinated brake cleaner. YOu'll see an amber or black bulb visible as soon as you take it out, and there are also two springs up inside the center that need to be hit, along with up inside the center as well (on both sides).
