Can't decide how to paint it. I'll tell you the 3 ways I'm thinking and if you could pick the one you think would be cool or tell me a new idea, that would be great. Thanks.

1. Sides of hood red, leave the center strip, hood scoop and vents unpainted.

2. Sides of hood and vents red, center strip and scoop unpainted.

3. Whole thing unpainted and just explain to every dumbass in town why I have a black hood on a red car.

get a raised hood scoop and paint that and the scoops red.
or just paint a raised hoodscoop red. but i like Carbon Fiber on red so i would leave most of the hood unpainted.

Thanks BATmobile, I do have a raised hood scoop coming in the mail. Painted scoop and vents is an idea I haven't thought of. I'll do a chop and see how it looks.
Thanks spaztkid, leaving it alone is something I am considering. Of all the widebody Celicas GOLDCELICA posted for me, the ones with the hood left alone did look damn good.

spaztikid, you're funny. Sell my hood. I would sell my wife before I sold my hood.
The very first topic I ever posted was trying to find this hood. People said "Are you nuts? You're never going to find that hood!!!"
Then everybody laughed at me and called me names and I ran home and cried to my Mommy.

No it didn't come with one. qt1ncelica sold it to me. She said she just had a stock scoop painted black on it. I thought I was losing my mind because in her profile, it looked like a raised scoop. I think she still has it in her profile.

Just incase you haven't heard me say it a hundred times or show you a picture a hundred times by now, this is the kit I bought and these are the wheels going on the car. Except mine will be solid red with a TRD wing, if that helps picture how this hood would look best on it.

The car is in the shop right now getting the turbo installed. I left them this picture and asked them to copy it exactly the same. They said "No problem". What do you guys think?

BATmobile, hell yes I'll buy them. They just need to be 19x8.5 -5 offset for the front and 19x10 0 offset for the back. Could you ask him for me about the size?

I think #1. If you decide painting it. If you want the Carbon Fiber weave to show you can just add a red pearl to it. to make it more red without letting the weaves disappear. thumbsup

Thanks again everybody. I will definitely give all your opinions a lot of thought before I decide on one.
GOLDCELICA,
Thank you very much. I really like both of your chops. #1 is very nice. That really makes the the vents stand out. I like it. Would a red pearl paint match the red on the car? If not, do you think it would look better with a solid red instead of the pearl?
I would like to see that looks like on a red car. I wonder if isaac would mind if we used his car for a chop on this idea.

One reason I think I should paint it is points at the shows. Being that it is 1 of only 30 made should get more points, not sure about that, but a plain Carbon Fiber hood does not get as many points as a painted Carbon Fiber hood. I think.
Since I am out to beat guys like Bob Mull, a guy with TV screens molded under his hood, I need all the points I can get.
Check out Bob Mulls mod list at www.4ncca.com [4ncca.com], he's on the front page.

Good call spaztikid, goose42, GTQuentin, JBing and silver.
Who else thinks that the picture of isaac's car looks a lot better with the hood black.
Because now that I see the idea I had about painting the sides of the hood red, on a red car, I think it looks terrible. I just don't understand why, because the APR Celica looks great with the black strip on the hood.
Could it be because the reds don't match? Could that be why it doesn't look good?

iggy,
I'll tell you the same thing everybody told me when I started looking for that hood. Are you crazy? You will never find that hood!!! There was only 30 of them ever made and nobody is going to sell you theirs! Good luck! Everybody wants that hood.
That's what everybody on here told me when I asked about getting one. Then qt1ncelica sold me hers.
Good luck. You will need it. Or take the advise isaac gave me. He said it would not be hard to make one just like it, just by adding the vents to Carbon Fiber hood.

Does anybody know where I can get these Carbon Fiber end caps for a TRD wing? And could somebody chop this wing on the picture below. Plus if somebody could make the car solid red I will never ask for another chop again.
I know I'm in the wrong forum for this, but I didn't plan on asking for a chop and I didn't want to start another new topic. Thanks.

Thanks VSGTS14,
I don't mind hassle. I just want it to look the best that it can. What do think about the looks of a black hood on a red car? Is your hood Carbon Fiber? Or is that a painted strip?

Hey Ryan,
Thank you very much. Very nice work. So wich one do you think looks better? The red sides just don't look that good to me for some reason. I thought it was the perfect idea, but I think the black just looks better.
I also wanted to ask you what you think about the black CR's instead of the CX's. I know you said you liked the CX, but they just started looking too fat to me. What do you think?

if you do any painting, paint both sides completely and leave the center portion Carbon Fiber.

NP Yes the Carbon Fiber without the paint will look more appealing especially on red compliments real well. The slots on the inside not painted look off to me now that I stare at it. Like a jigsaw puzzle effect. If it were a flat o.e.m. hood you could get away with it. The CR's look thinner since they have more spokes where as the CX only have 5 spokes that are wider making them look fatter. I really love both of the wheels I just haven't seen the CX on the Celica. I think the CR's are soo appealing to Celica fans since they were the originator on famous Red GT300. CX is rare on GT300 which is why I like it and CR more common. Either way if you show your car with either one of those wheels to people who don't know about Celica's in detail trust me it's going to be huge shock factor.

So hard to choose I think both wheels are high class and the lip is outstanding. I can't hate on either one I'm still choosing with you haha. But I can say I just love how both wheels and the inner piece reflects off the massive lip. It's one of the best 3 piece wheels ever made to complete the GT300 look. Celica's look beautiful with 5 spoke wheel design. Lets try to find a car with a huge lip using the CX.

If your splitter has extra Carbon Fiber just carve it out with a dremel or ask your body shop to throw it in as a freebie. Not hard at all. Isaac and I have done it to many parts of our car. Example.

Thanks Ryan,
I hope you know that I really apreciate all the help you and every on this site give me. I never thought I would count on a certain group of people so much.
I'm pretty sure this car will be a huge hit at the shows in 2005 and I hope that everybody here might be a little happy knowing that they helped me build it, once it starts winning. I hope.
As for finding an APR Celi with CX wheels, that's easy. The Orange one you gave me pictures of is pretty damn close. That car looks great. One of my very favorites, so either way, people will say that mine looks just like one of the other APR Celicas. Just got to go with what I think looks best I guess.
