What does it mean when my clutch is squeaking?

When I push in my clutch I hear this squeaking sound like an old door or something. Is that bad? Is there any way to fix this?

I first noticed this when I was in the garage backing out. I pushed in my clutch and I heard the noise.

Mine squeaks too when it's cold, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

Just needs some lubing. Check the front of the tranny in the engine bay. You'll see a square shaped accordian rubber boot on it. Pop that out, and spray the inside with white lithium grease spray, using the supplied straw to aim. Just spray the hell out of the inside and you'll eventually hit the spot that needs the grease. Push the clutch in a few times before you drive to get the grease worked in, and the problem should be gone after that.

if you are spraying in the part that i think you can see the clutch spinning inside the tranny right and if you spray that with grease you fill fuck up your clutch

My clutch is fine 60K later, and the noise never came back.

If it's when you "push" the clutch and the noise is coming from "inside" try lubing up the spring connected to the clutch pedal. That sometimes it gets squeeky.

If it's in the engine bay and noise happens "outside" only when you "shift" do what Bluebomber said.

I've got the same thing on my celica. And I've had the same thing on my last 3 toyota's. And every time I've gone to the dealership, some mechanic has followed me outside, made me pump the clutch like some asian be-hatch who just got 5 dollars, while he's sprayed some grease someplace.

And -VOILA- problem sorted.

It's just a really annoying 50 cent problem that sounds much worse than it is.
