finally got my trd jdm clutch put in by a new dealer and got some new issues.

1st thing i noticed is that they only listed the clutch cover with an actual part # and some other mumbo-jumbo about a "clutch cover sub-assembly". nothing else about the ferodo disc or even an oem disc part# wtf.

this was all done under a toyota motor sales' accommodation due to my 5 months of problems with a previous dealer i bought the car from. still, i was also promised a trd japan flywheel ALONG with the cover and disc.

well, can't be too pickey since it was all free but they alao screwed up my steering...again. the last dealer did one alignment but forgot to straighten the steering. on the 2nd attempt they finally diagnosed tire-pull. fine but now i gotta get the steering corrected AGAIN (3 times a charm spineyes?!?!).

anywho, there's something funny with 2nd gear. as i accelerate from 2nd to 3rd the transmission SEEMS to slip/hesitate around 4000-5000 rpms confused. am i hallucinating or could it be due to the fact they didn't change the flywheel or at least resurface it???? help confused confused

i'm not having luck with cars... cry

I have the JDM TRD CLUTCH KIT w/throw out bearing. I haven't experienced any slippage. If you have any problems with it, you should take it back and have it covered under installed parts warranty.

dog gone it! toyota's field investigator verified i only got the clutch cover and disc. they flywheel was considered to "compromise engine durability". yeah right. can you smell bs?

anywho, the guy explained the hesitation i was experiencing was the vvt-i engaging and torque conversion. now everybody knows that lift is like WOO HOO!! grin, not eek wtf confused. and, lift doesn't hit at 4000-5000 but at 6000-7000. argh!!

maybe i should never have gotten a celica and went with the wrx (more expensive but the headaches gotta be less)

cry

any time you make major modifications to a car, you run the risk of having problems.. whether it is a toyota, subaru, or whatever..

James - The next time you're down here in southern california, we should drive each others car to see if what you truly got was the JDM TRD clutch. I have the JDM TRD clutch so it will be easy to figure this out.
