Does it hurt the Celica if you shift from 1st to 3rd, and from 3rd to 5th until I get to 6th gear. I watch some of my friends shift like that and didn't know if I did would it hurt my car? Thanks for any input. ~S~

It's perfectly harmless as long as your not revving really high in 1st or bogging hard in 3rd.

Sometimes when I just need to pass a car, i downshift to third to hit lift and if im going fast enough to pass, I shift to 5th and then shift to 6th... It doesn't hurt the car from what I know, and it sounds find too when I do. It's not like I force my gearbox in and out of gears. I do it gently if im going to upshift from 3rd to 5th. Or sometimes I do 2nd to 5th so I dont have to ride my RPMS so high while shifting through each gear just to get to 5th.

I think it's fine as long as you're not red lining or bogging too low of an rpm. The whole point of a stick shifter is so you can choose which gear you want instead of having to go through each gear like an automatic.

Just as long as you know the proper RPM range for each gear shouldn't have a problem.

It's okay if you honk while shifting.

The correct term strangely enough for shifting 1 to 3 or 2 to 4, 4 to 6... is a gated change. Perfectly harmless as long as the revs are high enough for the car not to struggle when you select the next gear.

Toyota only make automatic Celicas for the US. Says something about their driving ability I think rofl

Now Toyota are taking the Celica off them altogether, because they don't deserve it. HA HA!
