So my friend's got a 2002 Dodge Durango SLT with the 5.2L v8 magnum in that motha (automatic, duh rolleyes ). He shows up at my house last night and says some dudes at school told him how to burnout in his truck by just holding his brake all the way in and flooring it. We go up the road to this abandoned street at around 10PM, and he tries it. I couldn't see anything but his tires spinning and the screeching was nuts. I got a call from my friend on my cell right after it and he's like "dude, who the fuck is burning out?"

So he goes for the "launch" i guess by just revving really high while holding the brake in and just letting the brake off. His truck really took off but how harmful is this?

sorry for the long post, i've got nothing better to do

CLIFF NOTES:

Friend shows up with truck
Holds brake in and floors throttle to burnout, then launch
..bad?

Well, its easier on the car/truck than a neutral drop! If you've GOT to do a burnout, I'd do it by holding the brake and flooring it too. But I'm not interested in burnouts. Whoopee, smell my tires as $$$s go up in smoke!

yup auto burn outs with rwd are easy as hell... just put in the brake (not hand brake) rev it up and the tires will try to push you alittle so you let of and put it back in real quick the tires will have momenutm to spin and they will spin like crazy...

next time get some water and put it around the rear wheels so he can loose traction faster...

they even make these things called tranny locks for drag cars or street cars so you can lock it so you wont move and get a tremendus burnout to heat up your tires at the line

Heh, thanks for that info celicaracer..my friend is gonna come by tonight and we're going to burn out so hard.

I've got a 1977 K5 Blazer with a 350 dropped in that bastard. Only thing i've done to it is headers, but that thing is a beast. (hint: camouflage paint job)

I've seen a guy in a Blazer do it (RWD). I've heard that our cars will not let you power brake past 2000 RPMs but you will really screw up your tranny if you could...it's not worth it.

I can imagine how easy that is with a 5.7L engine. I used to do it in my 94 Miata with 128 HP. rofl

You'll kill your brake pads and tires. That's about it.

your thinking of the wrong thing a trans lock basically locks up the transmison so that the out put shaft won't spin

what your trying to say is a line lock
which is a solinode that goes in your front brake lines (for a rwd vehical) and what you do is hold the brake in flip a switch and then when you let off the brake the soilnoides keep all the brake pressure on the front but the rear brakes are not holding anymore

fwd cars jsut put the ebrake on
